In our effort to improve the security of the DNS infrastructure, we systematically studied application-layer DNS amplification and discovered 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏, a family of DoS vulnerabilities of DNS servers. @NetSec_ETH just published the release 0.2.0 of 𝗝𝗣𝗔𝗡, a 100% pure Java networking stack for SCION. JPAN can be used stand-alone or with a local installation of SCION. The release features a cleaned up API, and improved SCMP support. More features are coming soon. We have been surprised to already see so many different paths in the nascent SCION network: measuring from the @ETH Zürich network to several destinations in the SCION networks, the graph plots each bar to represent the number of paths to a certain destination. It is exciting to see over 100 different paths to many destinations, and over 200 paths to 4 destinations! With the growth of the SCION network the number of paths will further increase! Having dozens of different paths to a destination enables exciting optimizations that are not possible in our single-path Internet: Such as optimizing latency, bandwidth, packet loss, or CO2!
