🔥 Static fire completed on the sidewalk test stand—even with throttling. Honestly, how many rocket startups can match this performance?
Happy Sunday!
The boom of generative AI (or SI) has made launching a rocket startup easier than ever before. SPAXUS just updated their renders one day later to include D7.0m QT-2

If you’re curious about what everything in this photo is, here’s a quick breakdown.
Still not over this morning, such a memorable launch!
Falcon 9 creates an insane jellyfish as B1096 heads back towards land and the second stage lofts Cargo Dragon towards the International Space Station, which is also visible in this shot!
You can see the ISS streak by near the center of the photo as a faint line. So cool to see!

Constant communication is what makes autonomy like this safe. Early contact lets us take maneuvering responsibility, publish ephemeris faster than ground radar can catalog the object, and deorbit and keep commanding through demise if needed
We treat early communications as a requirement, not a nice-to-have

During a discussion during cruise today, my First Officer raised an insightful technical point regarding the Flydubai incident that I think got overlooked: the counterintuitive advantage of manual reversion.
In simulator training, pilots dread dual hydraulic failure. Without hydraulic assistance, the Boeing 737 reverts to mechanical cables and tabs. Control forces become extremely heavy, and aerodynamic response is sluggish—much like driving a heavy vehicle without power steering.
Yet, in this scenario, that sluggishness likely saved the airframe.
With both engines cut and hydraulic pressure lost, pulling back on the yoke required massive physical effort to achieve even marginal control surface deflection. When the untrained plumber hauled back on the controls, the aerodynamic response was dampened enough to arrest the steep dive without generating catastrophic G-forces.
Had hydraulic systems remained fully powered, an abrupt, panicked pull on the yoke could have easily overstressed the airframe, risking structural breakup.
Paradoxically, the engine shutdown that threatened the flight also enforced the mechanical damping needed to survive the recovery.
Food for thought 💭

Humbled to post an engine firing video of our single-piece Agnite engine. Here we completed a few thrust sweeps - something that is needed to understand throttling - and later, we let the engine run for a duration well beyond the max. burn time of some of our ascent phase engines. Also, for the first time, this video gave us all a few good Mach diamonds to cherish.
Mission - 02 is getting ever so closer.
As a refresher, Agnite is our booster stage semi-cryogenic engine - it stands 1 metre tall & the entire engine is 3d printed in a single shot, as a single piece of hardware. It is powered by electric motor-driven pumps.
