The casual acceptance of forced conscription in Ukraine by the war’s blasé cheerleaders in the west is so insane. It’s literally war slavery. And they have forced a million men to their deaths.

So if you want to understand capitalism, you need to be talking to small business owners, portfolio managers, and Marxists. Nobody else can really talk about it with any substance.

We're looking at 3-4 AG results by OAI being straight up unfixably wrong because of a sign error made by Supreme Intelligence because it can't draw a picture properly and nobody in OAI team understands the math or bothered to run Lean this time. Historic disaster.

a while ago I made a bunch of unhinged requests to Amazon's shopping AI about things like "the best conceal carry holster for my dog" and I'm pleased to announce it's paid off

This is deeply disturbing: Anthropic secretly invited religious leaders to SF to advise them on AI safety, had them sign NDAs, but then primarily tried to convince them Claude has a soul & moral standing, all while wining & dining them to the max. 1/ tinyurl.com/preview/296b5z8z

It's incredibly important to aggressively resist the idea that AI can be conscious or have "personhood," not only because it's as ridiculous as believing that a book can think, but because once this is accepted, "AI's interests" will very quickly be prioritized over humanity.
Note well, apparently Anthropic tried very hard to get the Vatican to alter the text of "Magnifica Humanitas" just prior to its release so that it would not deny AI personhood.

Imagine if in even one of these interviews someone said “hey man what the fuck are you talking about?”
🇺🇸 Zuckerberg says that in 5 years you will have a personal AI that knows your life and does the work for you. "Everyone is going to have an agent that really intimately understands your goals and everything around you and can help you get stuff done." He means one assistant on money, health, the house, the calendar, running in the background all day. Meta wants that agent sitting inside the apps people already live in, so it becomes the way you get through a normal day. Writer: Lucas

the fact anyone is falling for this rhetoric is legitimately horrifying. This is utter nonsense that frames the companies as helpless to do anything and LLMs as some sort of impossible-to-contain thing versus *cloud software powered by the largest companies in the world*
Anthropic researcher who resigned tells @jstein_sun: "It’s not really the U.S. versus China — it’s more like the U.S. and China are both facing contact with an alien species, and there’s a choice between fighting each other to build stronger aliens on our respective sides versus banding together against the aliens." washingtonsun.com/technology…

Btw he got expedited removal instead of being left to languish for months, and was deported to his home country which is not in the midst of severe economic/civil unrest, and immediately got put in front of cameras to share how he cried for 1 hour.
Milo Yiannopoulos: "I didn't really understand the physical reality of how institutionalized the brutality is in America. The manner in which they arrest you, they put you in manacles, everybody is arrested like an MS 13 gang member. It was physically degrading. It was frightening. I don't think I've ever been frightened like that before. I was weeping like an old woman for an hour. I wouldn't wish it on anyone."

Video of an ICE agent pulling a gun on a wife and mother, who is a US citizen born and raised in the area, near Bailey's Crossroads in Northern Virginia yesterday. Chillingly, they claimed she “almost ran them over” until she told them she had video proving that was a lie.

⚖️ REPORT | Trump administration faces unprecedented human rights hearing over anti-ICE protest crackdown The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights held an unprecedented hearing in Washington on Tuesday examining the Trump administration’s violent suppression of protests against its immigration crackdown. It marked the first time the commission, an autonomous human rights body of the Organization of American States, financed centrally by the U.S., specifically examined excessive force against immigration-related protesters in the United States. The commission heard from victims, attorneys and experts about lethal and excessive force, attacks on journalists and legal observers, racial profiling, surveillance and the suppression of peaceful assembly. 📌 Thread by Drop Site contributor Joseph Bouchard (@GeopolWonk) ⤵️

The Economist doesn't understand how good "eco-authoritarianism" sounds to the youngest denizens of the dying corpse of the neoliberal war state, where it's 100 degrees in upstate New York and Trump is this close to doing drone strikes on endangered grizzly bears
The Chinese Communist Party, once famous for pillaging from the natural world, has set to protecting parts of it. But the country’s “eco-authoritarian” approach deserves scrutiny bit.ly/4x4lWge Photo: Getty Images
