RIP Audie de Lone.
Will Birch@Will_Birch8 Jan 2025
RIP Austin 'Audie' de Lone who has sadly died at his home in California. As pianist with Eggs Over Easy he unwittingly helped launch London's pub rock scene and enjoyed a long career in music. Seen here (second left) with Jim Keltner, Nick Lowe and Ry Cooder. Photo Lesley Glover.

‘Band In A Van’ (1973) captures the Brinsley Schwarz combo on the road in Ireland as their cover of Ronnie Self’s ‘Home In My Hand’ plays. It was first aired on RTE Television’s show ‘Tangents’ on 6 March 1973. Thanks to Travis Elborough for uncovering. tinyurl.com/5hfj9pz4

il est arrivé! Long-term Lowe fans will be familiar with nearly every song but if they're new to you, the rest of us may be slightly envious. @losstraitjacket accompany on this 'compilation' LP, but one wonders what truly ‘new’ songs #nicklowe may have up his creative sleeve…

As those fast-approaching trombones that lead the big parade joined me for a celebratory pub dinner on Thursday last, I’d like to thank all those who sent a birthday message. This long-time music fan, writer of all things pub rock, and occasional lyric scribbler says hi.
