The green transition is becoming a rush for Northern capital. Critical minerals such as lithium are extracted in the GS while design, finance & market access remain abroad. Without local industrialisation, clean energy will fuel a new era of colonialism.

We're told that food safety is mainly a matter of inspections and regulation. That's part of it, but no amount of monitoring can fix a system whose priority is to generate profit for shareholders. So why does the conversation rarely go there? Read more:

Today marks the grim anniversary of the Emergency, the most extreme manifestation of anti-democratic rule that India has ever witnessed. It was then Prime Minister and Congress leader Indira Gandhi who decided to proclaim the Emergency under Article 352 of the Constitution, and the then President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed approved it.
Numerous leaders, including those of the CPI(M), were imprisoned under MISA and DIR. In Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, S.R.P., M.A. Baby, V.S. Achuthanandan, and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan were jailed. Thousands of CPI(M) cadres were imprisoned, and many lost their lives. Like all dictators, Indira Gandhi trampled upon human rights and freedom of expression.
