The Úlfhamsrímur is an obscure Icelandic ríma poem, which alludes to an older wolf warrior cult.
(Thread)
The main character Úlfhamr (literally wolf-form), like his father Vargstakkr, is cursed to “Be outside with the wolf-band all the long winter nights”, every winter.

Of course, by the time Anglo-Saxon came to be a word anyone used to describe themselves with, the Frisians already had an identity separate from their British kin.
Frisia remained pagan and resisted Christian influence, they were more connected with the Saxons and the Danes to their east, conflicting with Frankish and English missionaries.
In places like North-Holland, Frisian language and identity probably began to diminish by the 11th and 12th centuries - with the people simply becoming Franks, though the dialect remained Frisian influenced and the knowledge of their heritage never died out.

Long before modern parliaments, Norse communities met at outdoor Þing (Thing) assemblies to settle disputes, discuss politics and make laws. Vápnatak—raising or clashing weapons—could signal assent. Participation and influence varied by place and period.

Hiç abartmıyorum, bu makale iktisat tarihinin ulaşabileceği zirveyi temsil ediyor. Makalede Pirenne tezi, 500 bin para sikkesinin coğrafi dolaşımı üzerinden test ediliyor. Makalenin en önemli bulgusu ise aşağıdaki iki görselde açıkça görülüyor: İslam fetihleri öncesi ve sonrası dönemde sikke akışlarının nasıl değiştiğini gösteren son derece etkileyici iki figür:

@johannesmboehm and Chaney combine data on half a million ancient coins with a model of trade and money to reconstruct trade and consumption from AD 325 to 950. The estimates show economic activity shifting away from the Mediterranean from the 6th century.

At Wijnaldum in Friesland, a substantial bronze Minerva was found in a terp settlement. The Rijksmuseum van Oudheden notes that the area lay outside formal Roman territory but maintained intensive commercial and military contact with Rome.
Minerva is shown in Greek dress derived from a fourth-century BCE Greek prototype. Similar Roman divine statuettes occur repeatedly in Frisian terps.
