What a difference a day makes?
UK kids born today (1st September) are more likely to have better outcomes in sport & academically than those born yesterday (31st August).
In cricket you are 6x more likely to be selected for Regional U15s when born in September than August.
41% of this group including the Head Coach & Captain were born between September & November.

The manipulation of data they tried to pull off in the UK "antisemitism" report is so forward it's almost offensive they thought people wouldn't notice.
"Are you just as open to having Jewish friends as you are to have friends from other parts of British society?
is NOT the same question as:
"Are you comfortable spending time with people who openly support Israel?"
They tried to use the answers to these two VERY different questions- the first posed in 2020 and the second one in 2026 - as "evidence" that antisemitism is on the rise in the UK.
And even then they STILL had to admit that it's criticism of ISRAEL that's on the rise, NOT bias against Jewish people.

This is good news for the ECB as the only way cricket will be the most inclusive sport is if football becomes a whole lot more exclusive.
Congratulations to Riva who becomes our first female graduate

Good to see that Will Smeed has withdrawn from the Afghanistan Premier League draft. I hope that the two other Somerset players registered, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and James Rew, follow his lead, because they don't want to play in a league endorsed by the Taliban, do they?

The ECB are signatories of the Brighton & Helsinki Declaration. By allowing NOCs for men to play something that is not available to women clearly breaks Principle 5b.

Media references to #LolaSalem have been disappearing all day, even though it had taken the fearless gentlemen of His Majestyβs Press until 10 October to report her court appearance on 30 September. #Oxford had suspended her as long ago as June, when she was charged, and when she was either still living with #MichaelGove or very recently separated from him. #Gove is an active member of the #HouseOfLords as well as the Editor of The Spectator, for which #Salem was still writing on Friday, 10 days after her hearing, although all trace of her time there has now been deleted from the magazineβs own site. davidaslindsay.blogspot.com/β¦

Matt Renshaw did not come out of an Australian academy. He came out of a driveway, and the man who designed it studies for a living how human beings learn to move.
His father is Dr Ian Renshaw, Adjunct Associate Professor at Queensland University of Technology and one of the people who built the constraints-led approach to coaching. He co-wrote the book on it. And he refused, almost on principle, to teach his son a technique. He was advised to bowl at Matt from day one and to tie the bowling to the batting, so the boy learned to pick length before he learned anything else.
The rest happened on the driveway. Hit it across the street. Hit the side of the house. Pop-up goals standing in as fielders, cones laid out, a different rule every week depending on what Matt needed that week. And when something went wrong, his father asked him what he should do about it instead of telling him how to do it.
The family even moved to New Zealand partly because the country was full of artificial pitches.
Before that, there was Abbeydale Park, where his father played club cricket for Sheffield Collegiate. The kids ran onto the outfield after the men finished. Joe Root was one of them, and Billy Root, because their father played there too. Renshaw remembers almost none of it. What he has been told is that he cried a lot when he got out.
New Zealand at seven. Brisbane at ten. Brisbane Grammar School. A first-class hundred against New South Wales at nineteen. A Test debut against South Africa at twenty, in place of Joe Burns. A 184 at the SCG two months later.
And then this. In his eleventh Test innings, Matt Renshaw became the first Australian in history to reach 500 Test runs before turning 21. He broke Clem Hill's 482. That record had stood for 119 years.
What a story. His father must be so proud
