The Paladin topic is amusing because that seems to be the one and only hill people are willing to die on, because they can't get over the fact D&D still uses that name while it's not the same class.
You don't see these arguments about Druids, Rangers, or anything else.

As I have been saying for years, the difference between woke and not woke is all in the presentation.
Having gay characters or stories involving refugees does not make something woke, preaching and shoving your politics down the player's throat makes it woke.

Paladin means more like "best of the best" not "purest of the pure" but since D&D forced them all to be LG holy warriors, well.... that definition has crept into the zeitgeist anymore, it seems.
I had many an argument with my DM in the late 80's about that alignment restriction. I wanted my Lawful Evil Paladin of Hextor, darnitall!
