Glad this is finally getting publicity. These transformers are essential to power & a majority are now past their lifespan. Imports, especially from China, hold potential backdoors that can aid espionage & black out the grid.

Small town Wisconsin really just has some of the most beautiful and powerful Veteran Memorials. Wisconsin loves its veterans ❤️🇺🇸

1/ Diesel is hitting new records. The easy blame is crude oil. That’s just part of it.. This is a refining crisis, not just crude. Here's what's happening ULSD crack spread (refining margin) hit $108/barrel on Sept 3 (all-time record) Crude futures are up 48% since Jan.

5/ + winter demand is about to hit. The real difference is slack. 80s/90s refiners ran w/ spare capacity and we weren’t as exposed to global product trade. Now were maxed out & diesel is globally traded commodity - a refinery fire in Russia shows up at a pump within weeks.

Bottom line: It's decades of consolidated, maxed-out refining capacity meeting a geopolitical shock at the worst possible time: right before winter.

NPN’s view: rebuild the industrial, energy, technological, and resource capacity necessary to absorb coercion.
Big news ahead of the Xi summit, but don’t expect hardline positions from the U.S. If Chinese satellite imagery enabled the lethal Iranian strike against U.S. troops, the lesson is larger than Iran. This is a deterrence problem. Economic dependence creates strategic constraint. wsj.com/world/u-s-links-chin…

New @WisPolicyForum analysis finds our state has the 2nd-worst “brain drain” rate in the nation. Wisconsin still produces highly-educated people, and yes, we’ve edged into positive net migration since 2020. But we’re bleeding talent. This is the challenge NPN exists to solve
"Wisconsin is #2 in the US in what researchers call net “brain drain"... "More college-educated Wisconsin-born residents are leaving the state than the state is recruiting." Thanks to @620wtmj @KristinBrey @StephenScaffid1 for their recent conversation about Forum research.

Talent doesn’t stay where there isn’t opportunity. We must attract & expand manufacturing, energy infrastructure, advanced materials, and the businesses willing to bet on rural Wisconsin.

Wisconsin can’t stop people from chasing opportunity elsewhere — but we can make sure the opportunity exists here first.

Hello, future.
A first look at autonomous Romaine lettuce harvesting. 🥬🦾 We demonstrated our newest harvesting application at the UC ANR Innovate Connect Field Day in a commercial production environment. Rolling out this fall, stay tuned! #Robotics #Agriculture #Sami #RomaineLettuce

We might answer the question of “what’s the American answer to Shenzen,” with “the industrial towns of the Great Lakes.”

An honor to share Papa Moose’s story: ..as fireworks light up the skies over our towns, our children will watch the sky in awe…the same type of awe I felt as I watched those F-35’s streak the sky. The same skies that Moose and Joe once commanded. @HeartlandPostWI heartlandpost.com/an-all-ame…

It’s incredible that portions of this are already ‘outdated’ a year later. But given the momentum around nuclear energy & SMR’s it is worth a repost.

Last night, the panel was asked “how will we know if we got state energy policy right?” Simple: when the state starts exporting energy, stops exporting our young people & imports opportunity. Great sharing ideas with @GraceMVanderhei & @JulianBradleyWI

Corn & crops like strawberries are pesticide intensive. Farmers still lose 7-15% annually. The pesticide industry is ~$80B per year. Here are two autonomous tractors killing pests with UV light instead. Technology can enhance human health & productivity.
