Well, that's a wrap. First #dormouse monitoring session of 2023 completed & it didn't disappoint, 8 #dormice in total. The #woodland is still very wet, so we were expecting a low count (4 or 5) #BetterThanExpected #HappyDays @NottsDormice @PTES @Nottswildlife

A project is underway to restore the Nottingham crocus to more areas of the city. See how @MyNottingham and @Nottswildlife have been working with volunteers to make this happen..nottsbag.org.uk/2022/04/20/n…

What better way to start your Sunday...2 x torpid #dormice in a box. Both females weighing in at 18.5g & 12.5g. The smaller of the two was last seen in October 2021 & weighed 11g. She has moved approximately 180m from her last known location @NottsDormice @PTES

Proud to have played a small part in returning the #Nottingham Crocus, a Nottinghamshire Biodiversity Action Plan #species, back to The Meadows, where historically, the species once thrived @nottinghamcity @NottsBAG nottinghamshirewildlife.org/…

A walk amongst the ancient giants of Sherwood Forest. The mist never lifted fully, but created a wonderful atmosphere @RSPBSherwood @AncientTreesATF #oaksofsherwood

The penultimate #dormouse monitoring check of the season. This year has flown by. The #Nottinghamshire #dormice are busy foraging for high-energy foods & gaining the much need fat reserves to see them safely through hibernation. Let's hope we find lots of little fatties today

I came across this unfortunate pipistrelle #bat this evening whilst dog walking. It was stuck to #burdock on the banks of the #RiverTrent I wonder how often this happens but goes unnoticed...@_BCT_

Phoar...what a #hedgerow This fabulous #wildlife corridor is what stands between #TreswellWood & 3 further #woodlands. The habitat contains at least 11 woody species inc. hazel, oak, ash & hawthorn & creepers such as honeysuckle & bramble. A #dormouse highway @NottsDormice @PTES

Great find @NottsBAG Don't forget sloughs get stretched as they come off so they're longer than the #snake Here's one from Morton in #derbyshire in 2010 it measured 5ft 4 inches
Out on site helping to control and prevent the spread of Himalayan balsam and I came across this grass snake slough. It’s the first complete slough I have ever found - all 1m of it!

This charismatic #British species has declined by at least 50% since 2000. Working in partnership with organisations such as @networkrail helps us to further strengthen the #dormice population in #Nottinghamshire & restore habitats to provide #naturenetworks @PTES
We’ve been working with @NottsDoormice to help provide some suitable #dormouse habitats at our lineside. Super excited to report that we already have some happy (and sleepy) residents! #WorldEnvironmentDay2021
