The Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) invites qualified individual consultants and consulting firms to submit Expressions of Interest to undertake a six-country study on financial services and income-enhancing opportunities available to African Agroecological Enterprises (AAEs) in Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Senegal and Togo. The study will map and profile relevant financial and income-enhancing service providers, assess the accessibility and suitability of their services for AAEs, and identify practical opportunities to strengthen enterprise access to finance, markets and other business support.
The assignment will generate practical recommendations on appropriate financial service designs, partnerships and referral pathways that respond to the realities of agroecological enterprises. AFSA is particularly seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in areas such as inclusive finance, agricultural and enterprise finance, agroecology, food systems, MSME development and multi-country research.

The structure appears to be floating on H-blocks, and suddenly everyone becomes a structural engineer. ๐
Then the crawl space is enclosed, plastered, painted, and completed. Thatโs when I ask them, โNow show me the H-blocks you were worried about.โ ๐
I honestly donโt know who convinced Kenyans that a reinforced H-block pier is some kind of weakling.
An H-block hollow section filled with concrete and reinforcement effectively becomes a reinforced concrete columnโonly without the timber formwork, excessive labour, curing delays, and unnecessary site work.
At the end of the day, whether you cast a column traditionally or use a reinforced H-block pier, the load path remains the same. The loads travel through the support system and end up on the foundation and ultimately the soil, based on its bearing capacity.
Our motto is simple: our foundation floor does not compete with the soilโwe sit above it.
No backfilling. No endless hardcore. No gambling with expansive soils.
