If the reason for this is confusion for consumers I just can’t see how someone can be confused when there’s a big ass ugly white banner on the cover telling you it’s not an actual physical game.
This is a decision I’m heavily against if it’s true.

This is an awful policy. Nintendo has the opportunity to set a positive, consumer-friendly example for the rest of console gaming to follow. They've done a lot right this generation, but they should seriously reconsider this.

Don’t Nod, the studio behind the original Life is Strange, is collapsing.
The French developer is facing a near-total layoff, up to 85 jobs, which would leave its French teams with only a small number of employees.
The studio has struggled with a string of underperforming releases, the most recently the sci-fi adventure Aphelion.
Don’t Nod has warned that it may not have enough funding to continue operating beyond January 31, 2027, and has entered a French “safeguard” procedure to restructure its finances.
