ALT Quote: "Incipience was written during a particularly difficult period of crisis and relapse with self-harm in my mid-twenties. It was always very explicitly about exploring my own experience with serious & enduring mental illness. Not just the theme of fighting the dark parts of yourself, but also examining the part of me that wants to give in to it. A vehicle for exploring what would happen if I did give into those most self-destructive impulses, and for understanding the lasting impacts on myself of all the times that I have."
