As frustrating as the president is on abortion, it's nothing compared to the harm done by Cardinal Cupich and every bishop who honors those who fund and promote the killing of the unborn. How to expect high standards from politicians when prelates cravenly promote such figures?

Zasesti nacionalno RTV s policijo in zamenjati vodstvo (Poljska); 6. Prekiniti mandate vodstvu nacionalne RTV in izvesti čistko zaposlenih (Slovenija); 7. Poslati v zapor člane prejšnje vlade brez možnosti obrambe (Madžarska); 8. Podeliti skoraj milijon državljanstev ilegalnim migrantom po hitrem postopku (Španija); 9. Zapreti novo Nuklearno elektrarno in zgraditi plinovod do Rusije (Nemčija); 10.

If, God forbid, Abdul loses, this will be a watershed moment in Democratic politics. The fire will rise. It's over. People will be radicalized against corporate, pro-Israel Dems. There will be a reckoning. If, when, he wins, it will be a watershed moment. And that reckoning will still come.

Archbishop Sample says none of the political parties in this country embody all of Catholic Social Teaching. But the Democrat party embodies ideas that are specifically ANTI-Catholic social teaching; pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia, anti-family & pro-LGBT. When we start with our Catholic faith, it's not hard to see which party's political platforms are more in line with church teaching.

Pope Leo chose a R ballot in every primary in which he has voted in IL. And remember when he asked you not to sign the Assisted Suicide bill when you met with him, but you did it anyway? Pope Leo said he was disappointed in you, JB. You can't be trusted. cbsnews.com/chicago/news/pop…

You seem deeply confused by the concept of prudential judgment versus intrinsic evil. I am free to disagree over matters of war and peace. You are not free to disagree with the church over matters related to unborn life.
Replying to @marcthiessen
Marc, you wrote the Pentagon’s case for Iraq while St. John Paul II begged America not to invade. Two decades later you helped sell Trump on another disastrous war and spent eight months attacking Pope Leo XIV for opposing it. You’re in no position to lecture anyone about scandal to the Church.

God alone will judge Biden's soul. But we can judge these actions: • He supported abortion—ardently—for decades. • Was endorsed by NARAL and PP. • He "officiated" at a "gay marriage" as VP and basically forced Pres. Obama to endorse the same. • Supported expanding and protecting access to contraception. • Staunch supporter of the transgender ideology/cult. • Loud and proud cheerleader for LGBTQXYZ+ depravity. • Attacked and smeared Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas in ways that (at the time) shocked even other liberals. • As VP/POTUS, sought to force Catholic religious orders/organizations to pay for contraceptives, etc. There's much (much!) more, but that's plenty. The man was either delusional or a liar. I happen to think he was somewhere on the sociopath spectrum. Regardless, his public record as a Catholic is a shameless and scandalous one.
I was in the room multiple times when President Biden met with and prayed with Catholic bishops. They didn’t run cameras, because he and those present didn’t want to politicize prayer and encounter for electoral gain. When Biden lost his second child in May 2015, he prayed nearly all night in front of the Blessed Sacrament. It’s the same thing he did in 1972 when he lost his daughter and late wife to a drunk driver. He went to Mass every single Sunday as president, oftentimes next to the parish cemetery of his children, and relied on his faith to guide him through hell and high water. You might not like his politics, but I encourage you to act with Christian charity towards the sincerity of his faith and take the view of the late Pope Francis, who called him a “good Catholic” in 2021.

When University of Notre Dame decided in 2009 to bestow an honorary degree upon Barack Obama, purportedly to facilitate dialogue, USCCB president Cardinal Francis George, O.M.I. remarked the decision—made without consulting the wider Church— “brought extreme embarrassment to many, many people who are Catholic.” He argued, “when you’re Catholic, everything you do changes the life of everybody else who calls himself or herself Catholic.” He concluded that “whatever else is clear, it is clear that Notre Dame didn’t understand what it means to be Catholic when they issued this invitation.“

Every time you post you further expose your theological ignorance. The Catechism says in paragraph 2309 the “evaluation of these conditions for moral legitimacy belongs to the prudential judgment of those who have responsibility for the common good.” The Pope was expressing his opinion, which Catholics should prayerfully consider. But he does not “make the judgement.” Civil authorities do. By contrast, the catechism says (2270) “Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life” and (2271) “Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable.” These are NOT matters of prudential judgment. You also don’t understand the meaning of “scandal” which the catechism (2284) defines “an attitude or behavior which leads another to do evil. the person who gives scandal becomes his neighbor's tempter. He damages virtue and integrity; he may even draw his brother into spiritual death. Scandal is a grave offense if by deed or omission another is deliberately led into a grave offense.” It adds (2285) that “Scandal is grave when given by those who by nature or office are obliged to teach and educate others” and “It prompted our Lord to utter this curse: "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened round his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” Your boss, as a Catholic president, caused scandal by promoting the falsehood that Catholics can support or procure abortion and still remain Catholics in good standing - and you in working for him facilitated that scandal.

Marc, the pope has already made that judgment. On the papal plane in June, he said of Iran, “There is no just war there.” On Palm Sunday, he said Jesus “does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war.”

Writing @cworldreport a year ago, @HenricksJayd said this about @CardinalBCupich: Cardinal Cupich is his own man, and he has proven many times that he is willing to go his own way, or the way of a small minority of bishops, and create division. Perhaps he has the smell of the sheep, but his sheep tend to huddle in the far-left corner of the yard. I do not know Cardinal Cupich personally, but I have been around him enough to have a sense of the man. He was my rector at the seminary for first-year theology, and even then, in 1995, he went his own way. I remember one evening he cancelled all classes and pastoral activities for a special convocation, something unprecedented for the seminary. He called us together to announce he had been made a monsignor. I felt bad for him then because I thought about how isolated he must be to believe that any of us cared. He also imposed on the seminary a liturgical sensibility that was out of touch with the seminarians: Mass in the round (actually, it was a square), rubrics ignored, Adoration offered once a month in a far corner of the seminary that had a sense of marginalization, and open conflict with admired faculty members, among other things. None of us at the time imagined he would ever rise in the ranks. Monsignor Cupich would, however, find his way to the top. When I worked at the USCCB, he did not hold any significant leadership positions. He could not get elected due to how unpopular he was (and remains), and yet he frequently muscled his way around with staff. He created a climate of fear, so familiar during the Francis pontificate, that impacted the daily work of lay staff. His move to Chicago was a sign from Pope Francis that the Pope wanted a disrupter among the U.S. bishops. For reasons unknown, Pope Francis did not like the American bishops, and moving Blase Cupich to Chicago and elevating him to the rank of cardinal was an attack on the collegiality forged by the post-Bernandin Conference. Cardinal Cupich seemed to relish the role. He was the voice of the Vatican when the USCCB planned to take decisive action in the wake of the McCarrick affair. Cardinal Cupich delivered the message that the Holy See would take a different approach, and the USCCB must stand down. Unfortunately, the USCCB leadership capitulated, and Cardinal Cupich had another Pope Francis feather in his zucchetto.

Were you in the room when he decided to abandon his long-held support for the Hyde Amendment and support taxpayer-funded abortion on demand up till the moment of birth? His presidency was a scandal to the Catholic Church and you perpetuate that scandal by holding him up as an example for Catholics in public life.

Well, another Cardinal has come out with a, shall we say, puzzling take on evangelization. A few years ago, Cardinal Américo Aguiar, at the time auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, said that he and the other organizers of World Youth Day in his hometown had no interest in converting anyone to Christ. Now Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco of Algeria has opined that “the Church is not there to convert” and “Christians should approach other religions through fraternity rather than seeking conversions.” Excuse me, but…what? Last time I checked, the Founder said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Sure sounds like conversion to me. When St. Paul came to Corinth or Athens or Thessalonica, his purpose was not to listen or to form a discussion group but rather to declare an unnerving message: the euangelion (glad tidings) that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead. So impassioned is he for this work that he says, “I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:22); and “If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:16)! Moreover, the entire thrust of the Second Vatican Council was toward bringing the Light of Christ to the peoples of the world (Lumen Gentium). And this missionary élan has given rise in the last few decades to the idea of a “new evangelization,” which is to say, a fresh declaration of the Lordship of Christ. Quite obviously, no one thinks that this work of evangelization should be done in a brow-beating, overbearing, or disrespectful manner (proselytization), but for God’s sake, let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. If I really thought that the Church does not exist to bring people to Christ, then I would resign and get an honest job.

We exclude unborn children from the Census. Would the Bishops claim that this denies them personhood? If so, strange to advance “personhood” for illegal aliens—who by law are considered not to be present in the country—while being okay withholding it from unborn Americans.
With all due respect, “personhood” is not a magical trump card that overrides the basic principles of the republican form of government. One cannot conclude from the bare fact of personhood that anyone and everyone has a right to be counted in the census, to vote, or to stand for office.
