A private prison company offered Minnesota an empty prison for 75 million dollars. The state said no. Then Trump’s administration paid the same company almost 500 million for it.
The prison has sat empty in Appleton, Minnesota since 2010. Last year CoreCivic emailed the state and offered to sell it for 75 million, upgrades included. Minnesota passed. Fifteen months later, Homeland Security bought it for an ICE detention center at 495.6 million.
How could this be? You guessed it. CoreCivic gave half a million dollars to Trump’s inaugural committee. And it still gets paid about 75 million a year to run the place.
Republicans love talking about fraud in Minnesota. JD Vance says his task force is all over it. So where are they on this one? I break it all down in today’s show (link in reply).

🚨 BREAKING: North Korean hackers are suspected of stealing $6.3 BILLION from Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, in just 20 MINUTES, potentially pulling off the largest financial heist in history, according to CNN and blockchain investigators. Roughly $3 billion has already been frozen, but billions remain beyond recovery efforts. Investigators link the attack to North Korea’s elite TraderTraitor hacking unit, previously blamed for the $1.5 billion Bybit theft.

The greed and entitlement of billionaires is a main reason why they shouldn’t exist.
Sam Altman says its bad that everyone's personal computers are using the world's limited supply of memory chips.
"It’s quite terrible to have everybody have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAMs sitting in their own computer, and being used 5% of the time. Like, you want maximum utilization."

Hershey's Miniatures are sold as an assortment of chocolate bars. 2 of the 4 are chocolate under an FDA standard. The other 2 are not.
The bag holds Hershey's Milk Chocolate, Special Dark, Krackel and Mr. Goodbar. Hershey's site lists Krackel as "chocolate bars" and Mr. Goodbar as "chocolate candy with peanuts." Neither says milk chocolate. Both did until 2008 when the cocoa butter was removed.
FDA's milk chocolate standard allows cocoa butter and milk fat. It does not allow palm oil. Once palm oil goes in, the bar can't be called chocolate, so the wrapper says chocolate candy.
Hershey's Milk Chocolate reads sugar, milk, chocolate, cocoa butter, milk fat, lecithin, PGPR and natural flavor. Milk is second. This is the one bar in the bag that meets the milk chocolate standard.
Special Dark reads sugar, chocolate, cocoa butter, cocoa processed with alkali, milk fat. It's real chocolate under a different standard, sweet chocolate, so the wrapper says mildly sweet chocolate.
Mr. Goodbar reads sugar, peanuts, vegetable oil (palm oil, shea oil, sunflower oil, palm kernel oil and/or safflower oil), lactose, reduced protein whey, chocolate, skim milk, then 2% or less of cocoa, cocoa processed with alkali, lecithin and vanillin. Cocoa butter is not on the list. Chocolate is 6th.
Krackel has no list of its own. The bag prints one combined list for all 4 bars, and the rice flour and malt extract in it are the crisped rice. Hershey brought out a full size Krackel back in 2014 as milk chocolate, then dropped it.

How the fuck they gonna finance $800 billion with a junk rating?
Answer: They are not.
This is a Ponzi falling apart. If they push this turkey through to IPO, all rationality has left the building. Everyone involved should go to prison.
BREAKING: Anthropic is now expected to receive a "high junk" rating from major credit rating agencies after its IPO, which could come as soon as November, per FT.
Details include:
1. Blackstone has told investors that Anthropic likely will not receive an investment-grade rating immediately after its IPO
2. Blackstone is working with banks that stumped up financing on selling the debt on to other investors
3. An investment-grade rating is "central" to Anthropic's ability to continue its AI buildout
4. The company says it expects to spend over $800 billion on computing infrastructure between now and 2045
Debt markets are increasingly in the spotlight as AI funding becomes less abundant.

This is the most expensive gasoline has ever been in the United States in the month of October in the history of our country.
Prices have gone down by about 10 cents on average since October 8, so I guess you’ve got that going for you.
Hello America… have you noticed gas prices have dropped over the last few weeks? I just filled up my car. $3.79 a gallon. No wonder the media have stopped talking about it!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
While US national average regular gas prices have declined modestly in recent weeks to ~$4.22/gallon as of late Oct 2026, they remain up over $1.17 from ~$3.04 a year ago; $3.79 reflects select low-price states/stations, not the national figure.

Well that was one hell of a closing argument tour by Trump on behalf of candidates. He salivated over men’s body parts, said high gas prices are good because oil companies are making billions, bragged about his ballroom, and said if he gave people $5k they still couldn’t afford to buy dinner at his club.

Machines are tools, not persons. Today, some propose granting these systems rights, or even legal personhood. Such an approach risks obscuring human responsibility and leaving those who suffer harm to confront a faceless entity.

I like the part where that Nova Southeastern professor said it’s not really a conflict of interest anymore because the Trump family has done it for the last 10 years. Not a big deal that her husband would direct state funds to his wifes scam school. Trump erased that guardrail.

So Vivek Ramaswamy and his campaign found a homeless woman in desperate need of help, cleaned her up just long enough to exploit her for a political attack ad against her own daughter, and then sent her right back onto the streets?
