Billionaires who don't pay taxes give tens of millions of pounds to the racist right while newspapers owned by billionaires who don't pay taxes smear the politicians who challenge them. Because they want to ensure 'a fair fight and a level playing field', apparently.

Two Muslim men pulled an elderly couple and their grandson from a burning house in Leeds last Friday.
You probably didn’t hear about it.
Mohsin Qayyum. 22.
Mohammed Yusuf Iqbal. 20.
Both from Bradford.
They drove past the garden. They saw the fire. They ran straight in.
Sheila Robinson, the grandmother who was trapped inside, posted on social media:
"My family and I will be forever grateful to these young men."
Her granddaughter Kayla wrote:
"Drove past the garden, seen it, and ran straight in and made sure everyone was okay without a second thought."
Everyone got out. The house can be replaced. The family is alive.
Every outlet that covered it called them heroes.
They deserved every word.
But not one headline told you they were Muslim men.
We have seen this before.
Two weeks ago, a teacher was stabbed in the neck protecting his pupils from a knife in his Manchester classroom.
Maysum Abdullah. 27. Science teacher.
LBC named him a hero. So did the Independent, the Manchester Evening News, the Mirror, the Sun.
He ran towards the blade.
A hero in every paper. A Muslim man in none of them.
This is the pattern.
When a Muslim name appears in a crime, the faith leads the headline.
When a Muslim name appears in a rescue, it vanishes from the page.
Now look at who that erasure clears the path for.
Bradford, the same district these men come from, is now led by Reform as its largest party.
One of their candidates, Daniel Devaney, topped the poll in his ward after writing on Facebook that Muslims were "pure scum" and that he wanted to "blast [them] off the face of the earth."
He was not deselected. He was not suspended. He was elected.
They are loud about our religion when they want to call it a threat.
They are silent when that same religion sends two young men running into a fire.
The book they want to criticise is the same book that commands us to save a life.
"Whoever saves one life, it is as if he had saved all of mankind."
— Qur'an 5:32
Qayyum and Iqbal lived that verse on a Friday in Leeds.
Abdullah lived it in a Manchester classroom.
And the headlines recorded the act, but erased the faith that drove it.
When we are the suspect, our religion is the whole story.
When we are the rescuer, it is not worth a line.
Their names are Maysum Abdullah, Mohsin Qayyum, and Mohammed Yusuf Iqbal.
Muslim men.
Say both.

When I finished my surgical training in the NHS (about 15 years ago), I went to the US for a fellowship.
The programme director liked my skills and offered a fast track to move to the US full time.
I was extremely torn, as with the private health insurance system I would make more than three times what I would in the UK.
I however found the way poor people were treated in the US and how they died from lack of basic medical care reprehensible and moved back to the UK.
With my experience now I will earn more than four or five times what I currently do in the NHS.
I however sleep easy every night knowing that all decisions I made during the day were based on what was best for the patient and not how rich the patient is.
The NHS has problems but it is a beautiful system where a homeless person is treated exactly the same as the prime minister.
Farage gets a lot of money from private companies in the US who have been eyeing the billions they can make in the UK for years. I will benefit from it money-wise but I still oppose it as I am not a monster like Farage.

The Reform Guide to Patriotism
Step 1:
Complain Britain is a “third world shithole” while living in the world’s 6th largest economy with free healthcare, free education, clean water and a functioning democracy.
Step 2:
Worship billionaires who don’t pay tax in Britain then blame immigrants on minimum wage for ruining the economy and your life. Bonus points if your hero is a crypto bro, a convicted fraudster or an American tech mogul who would never set foot within a thousand miles of your town.
Step 3:
Hate London with every fibre of your being despite not having visited since a school trip to the National History Museum. Call it a “foreign city” and deny it’s one of the world’s great capitals, the global centre of finance, culture, theatre, music and sport that generates a quarter of the UK’s entire GDP and quietly pays for your roads, your hospitals and your benefits. Disown it because you saw a TikTok.
Step 4:
Share hideously designed memes over and over again. Ideally featuring AI generated angry crowds with mashed up faces carrying upside down flags. Or barrel chested bulldogs.
Step 5:
Cheer every piece of bad news about your own country like you’ve won the lottery. Crime stats, NHS queues, potholes, you love it all. If it’s not true share it anyway. If something goes well pretend it didn’t happen. The only time you’re proud to be British is when you’re telling everyone how awful it is.
Step 6:
Discover Christianity despite not setting foot in a church since your mate’s wedding in 2014. Post about “defending Christian values” then spend the rest of the day calling strangers c*nts online.
Step 7:
Shout “Britain is broken” every single day while devouring GB News and trashing the BBC. Get your worldview from a channel owned by a foreign hedge fund or tax-dodging non-dom aristocrats.
Step 8:
Import American MAGA culture war talking points from people who couldn’t find Britain on a map and still insult your military, your cities and your food. Then call everyone else a traitor.
Step 9:
Obsess about boats in the Channel, the EU and the state of the entire developing world despite having practically zero personal experience of any of them.
Step 10:
Vote Reform, a party with no policies that benefit you or survive contact with a calculator. Then wonder why nothing changes.
Bonus:
Change your profile pic to a lion with a Union Jack painted on its face or a historically inaccurate crusader, misspell sovereignty in your bio and tell a stranger on the internet to “wake up” at least three times before lunch.

Since 1980, the ECHR has heard just 29 UK immigrant deportation cases, and the UK won 16 of them. Leaving it will make no material difference to immigration. But it would weaken human rights protections for absolutely everybody in this country.

The House of Lords is a dinosaur that needs massive reform. It doesn't matter if it's Charlotte Owen or Sue Gray. None of these people deserve to be in it.

I was blocked by Wes Streeting for pointing out the following to him from @GoodLawProject.
👇🏻
According to the electoral commission, the largest contribution to Streeting’s political project has come from MPM Connect and OPD Group Ltd, two companies controlled by the recruitment executive Peter Hearn, which have given the Ilford North MP a total of £144,900.
The largest healthcare insurer in the US. Armitage has bankrolled Streeting, including for “staffing costs”, to the tune of £95,000 since 2022.
The health secretary has also taken £13,500 from Sir Trevor Chinn, a senior advisor to a firm holding investments in several private health companies.
A total of £311,400 has been funnelled from these companies and individuals towards a politician who has staunchly defended the use of private healthcare to bring down NHS waiting lists.
So yes, let's wait until July Wes Streeting.

I remember life before Thatcher when rich people paid taxes, water, rail, and mail were publicly owned, and you could walk into a GP surgery and wait your turn to be seen

Have you noticed that, today, no one is talking about the ongoing genocide in Gaza? This is the greatest gift to Netanyahu and his merry genocide maniacs. Keep talking Palestine people!

601 guitars playing together in St George’s Hall. Bringing people together was always the idea when I started the guitar group in The Florrie.
Too many people to thank. Who would have thought guitar was so popular.

our very own @timotierney on @BBCBreakfast talking about 601 Big Guitar In @SGHLpool last night
Remember last night was also a fundraiser to help @TheFlorrie continue to help others & more importantly the upkeep of our Grade II listed building to keep on providing a place to put our free activities on.
