Devonte Wyatt is due a $7.3M roster bonus next March, and his cap number jumps to $16M in 2027. Those will be tough pills for Brian "It's Not My Money, So Who Cares If I Waste It" Gutekunst to swallow unless Wyatt starts playing a lot better.
The minute after Jayden Reed suffered a seaon-ending neck injury, GM Brian Gutekunst should've been looking for a veteran wide receiver. If Matthew Golden can't play on Thursday, Savion Williams becomes WR2 and Bo Melton WR3. There's no universe in which that shoud be acceptable.
If Zeitler doesn't start at right guard tomorrow night, he's officially a $4M ornament.
Matt Prater, 42, missed 5 kicks for Buffalo last season. Trey Smack, 23, has missed 7 kicks in 7 games this season.
If the #Packers are afraid of losing Smack, fine- carry 2 kickers on the 53. I think they could do without Kaleb Johnson, or Josh Whyle, or Donovan Jennings, etc.
Again, I like Trey Smack, and I think he has a chance to be a really good kicker. That said, he's not getting the job done, and #Packers can't just sit idly by. The last time they did that it cost them a playoff game. At the very least, they should be working out veteran kickers.
Harris Butker, one of the best kickers in NFL history, is off to a rough start this season. He's 11 for 16 on field goals and 14 for 15 on PATS.
Regardless of Butker's impressive resume', no team serious about winning would just sit back and do nothing when its kicker can't make kicks.😏
DT Anthony Campbell continues to flash in between injuries. There's definitely something there to work with in the future.
Matt LaFleur is saying all the same things about Trey Smack that he said about Anders Carlson three years ago.
NT Jordon Riley played 29 solid snaps in his first game back. He's probably a slightly better player than Jonathan Ford, whose move to IR opened a roster spot for the former Giant.
Jordan Morgan's run blocking remains way below average. He's too physically talented to be so bad at that part of the game. Morgan, like all the young offensive linemen on the roster, would benefit greatly from better coaching.
After Mike Sherman, Ted Thompson, and Brian Gutekunst, when the Packers hire their next GM in 2039, I want him to be more like Ron Wolf. In today's NFL, the most successful GMs are the most aggressive ones.
Thursday night's game scared me as soon as I saw that Carolina lost 43-13 on Sunday, and that's before I even saw this stat. A decent team coming off a humiliating loss is always dangerous. The Packers better be ready for a fight.
The Carolina Panthers are an incredible 13-0 ATS in games following an outright loss.
They got obliterated by 30 vs the Bucs last week and will play in Green Bay on TNF this week as a 3.5-point underdog.
This is a very similar situation to last season where they got destroyed by 31 on their home field vs the Bills, then went into Green Bay the next week and won outright in a game where they were a 13.5-point underdog.
Will the streak continue on Thursday?
