Congrats to the Paul Street team! Great people coming together on both sides
Today is special. @garyvee is now a partner in Paul Street. When @Paddyclearly and I started our company, the goal was clear: build the best offering in affiliate and partner marketing. Since then, we’ve driven over $1.4 billion in revenue for some of the best brands in consumer, built a world-class PR and influencer practice, and most importantly - built the best damn team in the business. To say that Gary has been an inspiration to me would be an understatement. No one has done more to shape how brands think about attention, culture, and the creator economy. Having him in our corner isn’t just validation - it’s fuel. Day one, again. paulstreet.com

We raised $10M to K*LL UGC ads. Marpipe (built in collab w/ Meta) unlocks a hidden ad type that drives ~200% better ROAS than UGC. If you're an e-com brand, Marpipe can make you $100k+ in 30 days. Bold claim? Let me prove it 🧵

Hosting your first offsite takes most founders a long time to get to. But this one did it in under 2 years. Patrick Cleary, President and Co-Founder of Paul Street and a key member of the founding team at @wayflyerapp, shared the BTS of building not 1, but 2 transformative businesses on our latest episode. From driving partnerships and growth strategies at Wayflyer to scaling Paul Street into a leading affiliate-focused marketing agency, @Paddyclearly's not scared to redefine how brands grow and scale. In this episode of @turningpropod, Patrick unpacks how it all went down hosting his first team offsite with over 20 employees, how to balance profitability with growth, the power of compounding networks, and more. Don't miss out on hearing from the Director of Partnerships of a billion-dollar company. We breakdown... → How a simple conversation turned into a multi-billion-dollar company. → How Wayflyer became the fastest-growing Irish startup ever. → Why Patrick left Wayflyer to launch Paul Street. → How networking built Patrick's career and 2 companies. → The one thing most agencies get wrong when trying to scale. → How to delegate and build a high-trust team that operates without you. → Why Paul Street is obsessed with retention. → How a company offsite made Patrick realize he had built something special. And much, much more. Check out the full episode here: youtu.be/vvbg86u6PLk

I’m in literally 50-60 slack channels across different teams. Especially if you’re remote — Celebrate the wins louder than you Correct a fumble I’ve asked a lot of founders how they highlight wins or losses and some say they do private slacks or an auto app in slack that sends kudos and some just say  “No, it’s a waste of time.” This couldn’t be a worse take. You have to do it publicly. You have to put them on a pedestal. Let the team know they can brag and it not be viewed as cringe or tacky The confidence will create more confidence which creates even more confidence Correct in private. Celebrate in public.

First-time founders focus on product. Second time founders focus on distribution. A worse product with better distribution wins almost every time! People often ask how we won the market with Wayflyer.. Product? Sure, we had a good product, but at the end of the day the product was cash and you could argue there were better offerings out there. Underwriting? There's a great underwriting team at Wayflyer. But great underwriting means being conservative, turning down a lot of deals you could have said yes to. We took the view that loose underwriting was a sure-fire way to blow up the company. Wayflyer really won the market because we did a better job of reaching customers than our competitors. We had a great sales team with the perfect strategy. And once growth slowed for our competitors, they loosened their underwriting strategy which ultimately led to them failing. Product is important, but good distribution wins.

Never go full Founder-Mode
One of the most bizarre Silicon Valley stories has taken a new twist. Bolt founder Ryan Breslow wrote to investors earlier this week naming several shareholders who had backed his chaotic attempt to raise $450 million at a $14 billion valuation.
