Hajo Meyer, Auschwitz Survivor, in a 2003 East Jerusalem interview: He was 9 years old when Hitler came to power. At his German high school (until kristallnacht), he said he learned a lot about the doctrines of a fascist state - whether under democracy or dictatorship - and became sensitised to that kind of aggressiveness. After being barred from school, he was sent alone as a refugee child to Holland. He later survived ~ 10 months in Auschwitz. His lesson: "Anybody belonging to the Jewish people is not allowed to behave ever like or perpetrators." That's why he joined A Different Jewish Voice. He argued that equating criticism of Israeli policy with antisemitism was a "trouble trick," and that dehumanising Palestinians (e.g as a "cancerous growth") mirrored the language used against the Jews. As someone prouf of Judaism's ethical tradition, he said current policies were destroying that heritage. When the Nazis acted, the world was silent. Now the world is silent while Palestinians face harassment and land theft. He wanted to wake people up.

Auschwitz Survivor Hajo Meyer (2013 interview): Israeli leaders Begin and Sharon were "Adolf" Begin and "Heinrich" Sharon - "real Nazis." He could "smell" it because he grew up under the Nazis. He called Israel's treatment of Palestinians the central cause of troubles in Europe. Muslim unrest in the suburbs of Paris and Amsterdam comes from identifying with Palestinians. "The whole world is in danger" because of this, and Europe in Brussels must be told the truth. The west looks away due to oil, geopolitics, and Holocaust guilt.

Pro-Palestine protesters filled a busy Tokyo intersection this weekend, waving Palestinian flags and stretching a long banner reading “Boycott!
