It is fascinating as a choice Given that Lord Lamont was one of the politicians involved in an EU war game where basic questions were asked about what and how brexit would "work" And he had absolutely fucking nothing here we are 10 years later

The thing to remember: don't look at Budgets in isolation. Taxes have been rising since 2021. The extra tax we're paying this year is the *cumulative* result of five successive Budgets, under three Chancellors. This chart shows who's responsible & for how much.

Replying to @DanNeidle
So if the Chancellor doesn't raise a single £ of tax today, tax will still go up. (The picture is complicated by the 2023/24 Hunt tax cuts (the hatched bar below the x axis) but the Hunt threshold freezes were much higher.)

I am confused why any of the last three Chancellors would need to raise taxes given that @Jacob_Rees_Mogg assured his (now ex-) constituents that the brexit dividend was greater than £1.7 billion per week. Just imagine having not just the happiest fish but also that dividend.

🚨 BREAKING: Mike Johnson in full panic mode after voting in his own race, declaring, "Too many Democrats are voting." Wtf. Too many Democrats? Or too many voters Johnson doesn't like? Conrad Cable is making him lose sleep in DEEP RED Louisiana and maybe even lose his seat. More than 363,000 people voted in just five days of early voting, nearly matching the entire turnout from 2022. But here's the thing… Democrats are outnumbering Republicans among early voters: 43% are registered Democrats, compared to 39% Republicans. In October 2024, Republicans led early voting by roughly 36,000. This year, Democrats have the advantage. And the clearest proof they're terrified is Johnson's insane comments about "too many Democrats voting" and Trump just having to endorse him again. Seriously, that looks like he's worried. If Johnson doesn't hit 50% in the Nov 3rd elections, he's being forced into a runoff in Dec, which would set up a runoff against Conrad Cable. Let's make it happen. Give Mike Johnson hell. Support Conrad Cable. LFG!

NEW: Saudi Arabia is running out of options. Ansar Allah is hammering Saudi oil infrastructure, targeting airports, and threatening the Kingdom’s economic ambitions. MBS is begging for help. But the U.S. is tied up with Iran, and the Houthis know exactly how much leverage they have. There is no easy way out. Analysis from @BrettErickson28. meidasnews.com/news/there-is…
