Excited to share the first preprint of our lab. Here we created a robust mouse model of #Parkinsons by injecting AAV6-α-synuclein & PFFs into the substantia nigra. This model recapitulates key features of PD, enabling mechanistic & therapeutic studies.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Sex or survival—what’s more important? Excited to share our @Nature paper on how flies resolve this conflict. We found a dopamine-based filter that reduces threat perception, helping flies focus on courtship when close to mating. nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

Paper alert! So happy to share the 1st paper entirely from our new home @ucsdneurodept - sensors for polyamines: spermidine, spermine, etc. What are those, you ask? (Autocorrect suggested "trampolines.") Polyamines (PAs) are ubiquitous: redox buffers, part. in endo/lysosomes 1/

I must admit I was a bit taken aback first to see Virat Kohli so emotional and then to announce that he has played his last T20I. This generation should consider itself lucky to have seen him in his prime. And when it counted, he showed why he is the big match player India is blessed to have.

Orcas are notable for their complex societies only comparable to elephants and higher primates. Unlike any other mammal, orcas live with their mothers for their entire lives and since they can reach age 90, as many as 4 generations travel together. These family groups are based on matrilines consisting of the eldest female (matriarch) and her sons and daughters, and the descendants of her daughters, etc.

“It’s not just about how good you are now as a professional but how good you will be” The value of an external review of your method and practice put down beautifully. Seems rather relevant as we finish 3 days of our departmental review at @IISERPune biology.

The edgeR differential analysis tool has been updated to version 4.0., and this update features support for isoform-level DE, which is important functionality that can be used for #scRNAseq (via pseudobulk). Great to see that transcript-level analysis has become mainstream. 1/🧵
