We showed Transport Secretary Chris Grayling @transportgovuk how hard it is to tackle #pavementparking using councils' existing powers - it can be like a game of whack-a-mole! Time for a new law? #CPC18

So here's a thought David Beckham - why didn't you just try to MAN UP and accept a trivial fine and a few points for doing something you admit you did, rather than give lots of money to the loathsome Mr. Loophole? standard.co.uk/news/uk/david…

Increasing EVs shouldn’t come at the cost of making walking less attractive. Disappointing. #activetravel

The Department for Motorised Transport (aka @transportgovuk) are again doing nothing about cars dominating public spaces. Even when not in use, mass car ownership is endangering lives. They’re in the way on pavements and in the way on roads. Why is car ownership being encouraged?
1,001 days since the govt promised to explore new laws on #PavementParking. @transportgovuk say they "recognise the importance of making sure that pavement parking doesn’t put pedestrians at risk & believe councils are best placed to make decisions." THIS ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH!

Oh goodness EV charging with built in trip hazards too.
EV chargers on the pavement and now pedestrians have to negotiate dangerous cables too. Not a good look in Annette Road N7 #LoHo @IslingtonBC @CarolineRussell @HighburyIsLivin

Pavement parking is a rapidly growing issue and of particular concern for children and families on the walk to school and for those with restricted mobility. Pavements are for pedestrians not cars!
We want to see urgent action on #pavementparking. After 1,000 days of inaction we say to government that enough is enough. Join our call: livingstreets.org.uk/what-we… @gdcampaigns

“As soon as you get off the pavement onto the road, you’re no longer safe.”
Stuart is one of many blind people who are having to sometimes walk in the road because of parked cars blocking their path.

“driverless car makers seem to want to shift the blame for crashes onto pedestrians who “misbehave” or... resist the coders’ re-education campaign...If humans have to alter their behavior to accommodate the machines they create, we’re one step closer to a sci-fi dystopia.”
If self-driving cars can't detect pedestrians in and outside of crosswalks, they don't belong on the roads. The end usa.streetsblog.org/2018/08/…

Paris streets with EV charging in the carriageway not on the footway. Look up Mr Mayor. This is what Healthy Streets compliant EV charging looks like. They haven’t even had to put in full pavement buildouts.

There’s no glowing lights and absolutely no fans humming either @SourceLondon_UK @IslingtonBC. Why are London’s pavements being unnecessarily co-opted for noisy, light-polluting, private vehicle charging?

And, given the width of the road (not that should matter), why is it parked on the footway?

Whenever it’s said that “speed wasn’t a factor” in a deadly crash, what they really mean is that the car involved wasn’t technically speeding. It presumes that the speed limit wasn’t too high to begin with. When it comes to death from collisions, speed is almost always a factor.

A thousand days is a long time to wait when your safety's at risk. It's been nearly 1000 days since the Government promised review the law on #PavementParking. Add your name to our open letter calling for action to end the thousand days of delay: e-activist.com/page/27482/pe…

no livery either. I like @cyclist_london great idea: why not make it a requirement for every Commercial Vehicle (including Buses) in the UK to have an easily scannable QR Code posted on it so owner & operator can be easily identified & reported? @GreenJennyJones
And it’s the same story here in the uk. More and more cars and many more on the pavements/sidewalks xitter.gq/Streetfilms/status/101…
