What began as a small prairie settlement with the establishment of its post office has grown into a strong, hardworking community known as the Livestock Feeding Capital of Canada.
For a century, Picture Butte has been shaped by farmers, ranchers, local businesses, volunteers, and families who have helped feed our country and strengthen southern Alberta.

Danny Brock is a Saskatchewan farmer who just got sucked from his bathroom into a tornado and had his farm wiped out near Alameda, Sask.
Everyone is alive, animals uncertain, no buildings left.

An Amish lady is going down the road in her horse and buggy when she is stopped by a policeman.
"Ma'am, I'm not going to ticket you but I do have to issue you a warning," the officer says.
"You have a broken reflector on your buggy."
"Oh, I'll let my husband, Jacob, know as soon as I get home," she replies.
"That's fine. Another thing, ma'am. I don't like the way that one rein loops across the horse's back and around one of his testicles.
I consider that animal abuse," says the officer. "That's cruelty to animals. Have your husband take care of that right away!"
Later that day, the lady is home telling her husband about her encounter with the police officer.
"Well, dear, what exactly did he say?" asks Jacob.
"He said the reflector is broken," she answers.
"I can fix that in two minutes. What else?" asks her husband.
"I'm not sure, Jacob, something about the emergency brake”

The last 10 years, more than $200 billion - or $20 billion+ per year.
And yet, in the last five years, Alberta has experienced a period of prolonged economic stagnation & decline.
