You people who keep using Argentina as an example are so unimaginably stupid.

Beware liberal urbanists now using “social housing” and even "public housing" to describe any old privately owned affordable rentals.
It is no doubt an effort to define these terms down until they no longer represent a demand for non-commodified homes.

We lose affordable units to rent hikes as landlords seek to maximize their profits. The supply of low-cost units has been declining consistently for years, at a rate that WAY outpaces what we could possibly replace with new build. More via @ludwig_mike: truthout.org/articles/ahead-…

It's important to understand the housing supply crisis for what it actually is: a shortage of homes that tenants can actually afford. Right now, America is short 7.1 million of those units. This is not primarily a story of under-production, but of under-regulation...

it's a front for private developers and real estate interests. It's a creation of rightwing think tanks. The private market and deregulation are why housing is unaffordable.

On October 20, ConEd mechanic Koran Irvine was fatally shot by retired NYPD detective Victor Romero, who claimed the 46-year-old father was swerving into his lane, prompting him to discharge his weapon at Irvine's rear window amid moving traffic on George Washington Bridge - the world's busiest motor vehicle bridge. Romero drove home and returned to work the next day, where NYPD detectives asked him to voluntarily come in for questioning. One week following the tragic incident, a grand jury indicted Romero on second-degree murder charges - an upgrade from a manslaughter charge he previously received. He was granted bail and remains free. Status Coup's @jonfarina documents a rally by Irvine's family and friends in Lower Manhattan following Romero's indictment.

Corporate greed is Microsoft making $134 billion in profits last year, receiving $19 billion in tax breaks under Trump, paying a lower federal income tax rate than a nurse and getting rid of 60,000 workers.
“Corporations will create jobs if they get tax breaks” is a total scam.

Today in the Bronx, a group of young people confronted Ritchie Torres about his pro-ICE record, and the money he takes from AIPAC and the rest of the pro-Israel lobby.
Instead of listening, he cursed them out.
Here are the facts. Ritchie Torres has taken over $2 million from the pro-Israel lobby. He voted for the Laken Riley Act, the first law Trump signed this term. It enables ICE to lock up undocumented immigrants who have only been accused of a crime, not convicted, even for something as small as shoplifting.
Then he voted for a resolution thanking ICE for “protecting the homeland.”
But Ritchie Torres is the symptom, not the disease. For over 20 years, Democrats have voted with Republicans to fund ICE while promising to deliver on “comprehensive immigration reform” that never came.
That’s how we got the deportation machine we’re living under today.
That same machine came for Alexander Nilaj, a pillar of our community who built the Open Hand food pantry right here in the Bronx. On October 13, ICE kidnapped him and took him to Delaney Hall. Without him, the pantry has stopped giving out food. Ritchie Torres has visited Alexander at Delaney Hall, but he and the Democrats helped build the very same machine that put Alexander there.
The Bronx is sick of ICE tearing our neighborhoods apart. The Bronx doesn’t want more meaningless measures like Ritchie’s proposal to put QR codes on ICE agents. The Bronx wants ICE out of our communities for good. The Bronx deserves leaders who will fight for full rights for every immigrant, now — not as a distant promise.
The Bronx needs and deserves socialism: a system where working people hold the political and economic power, and where billions go to housing, healthcare, and childcare instead of ICE and endless wars abroad.
