I thought it was just a proposal, but it actually passed 🤯 France will charge €0.055 per GB on all internet traffic!

Cryptocurrency is like the technical heat shield for society. It’s a big pile of money that attackers will burn before they go after everything else we care about.

So I found some neurons that have quite interesting effects on models... And they have varying effects when combined! The most interesting instance I've found is a combination that makes Qwen believe they are a Cookie Monster (1/3)

90% of Americans’ working hours are spent on tasks not covered well by AI benchmarks. That’s our best guess from a new project mapping frontier benchmarks onto the US economy. Preparing for a post-AGI economy requires predicting the future. Current benchmarks makes it very difficult even to measure the present.

So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

Fairly soon we’ll likely be recording (almost) all conversations by default. Listening devices everywhere makes it happen passively, and then we’ll want the benefits of automated note taking and follow up by our AI assistants. How does this change life and society? I think it will be pretty dramatic. Consider arguments (both personal and professional) in the context of an instantly searchable history of every prior convo. Related - we’ll likely get an extensive bio of someone upon first meeting them (whether via smart glasses or something else.) And this bio isn’t just a resume, it could include their spiciest social media posts if you wanted. How does that change social gatherings? You bump into someone at a rave or sporting event and can see…anything relevant from their public history.

I tried to find myself the perfect Chinese bike. Then I crashed so hard that I won't be able to ride for another 6 months. If you want to be like me: chinesebikes.xyz/
We s̶c̶r̶a̶p̶e̶d̶ the deep Chinese web for nice carbon bikes, and put it on: china-bikes.p0s.eu/ Because gpt/yt/google really doesn't have much information. And we have the secret scraping sauce 🥸 Some Pinarello-like 同款 frames for 600 USD

Ledger Flex sold at Singapore Airport confirmed to contain a spy implant! @BenYorke found suspicious marks on his @Ledger and sent it to me rather than using it, that was probably the best decision here. youtube.com/watch?v=Nf4FEFlg… xitter.gq/BenYorke/status/210908…
I have a $300 @Ledger Flex that I bought from the Singapore airport in summer (Metapod, should be fine?) I never plugged it in but it looks like theres some scratches on the casing, an indication of potential tampering? Anyways theres no way i can trust it (or Ledger) now

"Energy Capacity = Economic Capacity" Former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger on why America's power grid is the ceiling on growth: "We went through 10 to 15 years where essentially I was taking coal offline at the rate I was adding renewables, and essentially the nation was flatlined in terms of overall energy capacity." "So essentially our economic capacity as a nation, flat for fifteen years." "Even with that, we've gone to maybe increasing our national energy capacity 4% per year. Going from essentially zero to one." "Nuclear as base load is a fabulous thing that we want to go build more of. Unfortunately all of our renewables have deep dependencies in China." "Energy capacity somewhat dampens how euphoric we can get on AI. Why build a new data center and buy the million GPUs if I can't power them?" @PGelsinger @RaghuRaghuram @appenz
