This: A lawyer and Complex Pain Patient offers help: "I’m prepared to advocate in court for individuals unlawfully denied clinically indicated pain management." Thank you so very much. I'll be DMing you.
“Claudia, I’m an attorney in NJ representing clients at my newly opened solo practice. I’m also a chronic cervical pain patient myself and one of the few fortunate enough to still treat with a highly intelligent skilled competent and humane primary care physician. I’m prepared to advocate in court for individuals unlawfully denied clinically indicated pain management. I’d welcome and appreciate a conversation to discuss how I might be able to work together with your organization to support clients who have been discriminated against for palliative care and as a result are in need of pro bono legal representation. I’ve been a victim myself and feel quite strongly about the need to support those in similar situations who don’t necessarily have the means to advocate on their own behalf”

He's right.
Fine, I’ll say it. Susie and everyone else who advised Trump to listen to the people afraid to rock the boat need to go. Time for a complete White House shakeup, starting with PPO. @SergioGor brought in way too many staffers and not enough hitters who DGAF..

I’ll say it again - they have captured our voting system and they will never let go.
James Talarico got more 'votes' than any Democrat candidate has EVER gotten in Texas history. He got 500,000 more 'votes' than Kamala Harris got two years ago in a Presidential election year. The demographics of Texas have not changed significantly in two years. You can talk about gas prices, or Iran, or Trump's personality until the cows come home, this still seems ... odd, to say the least.

Well, that was not fun! But in fairness, I think the Repub Congress (especially the Senate) got what they deserved. Turns out that ignoring the pleas of your constituents for 2 years has consequences.

Wow! Today I got a LOT accomplished. I finished requesting a meeting with Senator Mark Kelly about my request for a Congressional Inquiry about why no agency has tracked patient outcomes since the de-prescribing agenda began. I finished writing to my Congressman to ask that he co-sponsor the bill introduced by Steve Cohen to repeal/reform the Controlled Substances Act, and put up a template that everyone can follow on X, Facebook, and Substack. I finished reconciling the bank statement and checkbook and receipts, the credit card statements, paid the bills, amended the budget for the next 6 months, finished the filing, AND heated up a frozen shepards pie, spinach, and made a salad for dinner. I talked a pain patient off the ledge and helped her get her prescription filled and picked up today. And more! Still lots to do, I never finish it all, because now that I am disabled and move quite slowly, I never seem to be able to catch up on everything (like right now I need to put away the laundry and towels that were washed and dried yesterday, scoop the cat boxes, take out the trash, and mop the floor). But, it was a good, productive day. And I hope I can have another one tomorrow, but odds are slim. Usually it takes a day for me to recover from a busy, productive day like this. And, my back and neck are killing me, so I am about to bust out the bong and the Blue Dream cannabis to knock myself and get some pain relief since I have already taken all the pills allotted for the day. Thanks be to GOD cannabis is legal here and approved by my pain doc. Hold the Line, Patriots - we have by NO MEANS seen the final Act of this political drama we have been watching for over a decade now. Heads are about to roll. I can feel it in my BONES! #MAGAFOREVER (except for the bad opioid restrictions and cannabis limbo, Kratom and 7-OH bans, the mRNA jabs still on the market, and the low silver prices, those I could do without!).

Replying to @VinoNStrosGal
@VinoNStrosGal recently compared pain to prison sentence. I wanted to carry on the conversation. A lifetime prison sentence for a crime not committed - the perfect metaphor for the #chronicpain #ChronicIllness patient. And while we pray for an appeal, there are no higher courts to appeal to. Nor can we expect a parole board hearing. Our guards can surely put the screw to us though. Reducing or even removing meds happens at will, whether or not we've broken any rules. Solitary confinement, an often self imposed punishment, is all too common. But don't dare step out of line, the jailors are ready to pounce and ship you off to find your own, even worse, prison that you so desperately need now. Read that last line again. Those of us who are lucky enough to be sentenced to the halfway house, one foot in prison, one foot in society, face the public with their scowling contempt. "Everyone feels pain. Why do you need opiates? You're just an addict." "Growing older, everyone expects more pain. What makes you any different than the rest of us? Just take an Ibuprofen." "You used to be more fun. I'm sorry, but I can't have a drug addict around the children. Have you thought about rehab?" The government, TV and media have done a bang up job of selling the "War on Drugs" to the point that it's becoming really difficult to explain that "Dependency is not the same as Addiction". Very few become addicted to their needed pain meds. Of those that do, in all likelihood, they were either drug users prior to injury OR they had a high prevelence of addictive traits. Often, addiction runs in some families. That's not to say that opioids aren't dangerous. They certainly become physically necessary and quitting cold turkey is just as deadly to the pain patient. But they aren't seeking a high and usually never reach a euforic state while treating pain. It would be extremely rare for a pain patient to seek street drugs, with the exception being cut off completely by the doctor or pharmacy and being in excruciating pain. At which point it becomes necessary, that or unaliving oneself.
Imagine being sentenced to life in prison for a crime you never committed. No judge. No jury. No possibility of parole. Your body is the prison. Your disease is the life sentence. And pain is the sadistic corrections officer who never goes off duty. And your opioid prescription? That’s your allotted recreation time in a maximum-security prison. A few precious hours scattered throughout the day when the officer loosens his grip. When you can move, function, breathe easier, and experience some semblance of freedom. But you’re never released. The walls remain. The sentence hasn’t changed. And when those hours expire, you’re escorted right back into your cell. Now imagine society condemning you for wanting those few hours outside it. Welcome to life with disabling chronic pain. For 42 years, I experienced pain like everyone else. I was a competitive athlete. Dislocations, sprains, surgeries. Short courses of medication when necessary. Then recovery. Then life. Pain was a visitor. At 44, it became a permanent fucking resident. Now, at 46, my life revolves around milligrams, medication schedules, refill dates, and the constant uncertainty of whether I’ll have access to the treatment that allows me to function. My medication relieves some of my physical suffering while the system creates an entirely different kind. And inevitably, someone says, “If you hate opioids so much, why not go to a withdrawal clinic?” Are you kidding me? You cannot detox your way out of an incurable, debilitating disease. I don’t take opioids to get high. I don’t chase euphoria. I’m not escaping reality. And physical dependence is NOT synonymous with addiction. I’m trying to participate in reality. To shower. To move. To accomplish the ordinary things healthy people never think twice about. I’ve tried other treatments. I’ve pursued alternatives. I’ve endured the exhausting search for something else that works. Yet the system seems more interested in removing what helps than addressing why we need it. And yes, I repeat myself. I’ll beat this metaphorical dead horse until there’s nothing left but dust. Because algorithms limit how far our voices travel. Ignorance, apparently, has unlimited reach. I don’t want another pill. I want a body that doesn’t require one. I want mornings that don’t begin with negotiating with pain. Days measured in memories instead of milligrams. A life that doesn’t revolve around the next dose or refill. And here’s what healthy people need to understand: You can spend decades never needing daily opioids. You can be disciplined, athletic, responsible, independent. Then an illness can dismantle everything you once took for granted. Suddenly, you’re dependent on medication you never wanted, for a disease you never asked for, while being judged by people who have experienced neither. Fuck anybody who mistakes my need for pain relief for a desire to be medicated. The medication isn’t the crime. The pain isn’t a choice. And the patient isn’t the criminal. I’m not fighting to stay on opioids. I’m fighting to remain functional in a body that has already taken so much from me. And if you’ve never lived this way, I genuinely hope you never do. Because perhaps the cruelest part of this prison is that the people demanding we surrender our few hours of recreation have never spent a single night inside its walls.
