Finally got round to reading this. Would recommend for a detailed yet readable look at the web of vested interests that are sustaining and profiting from the UK’s housing crisis.
Really does emphasise how reductive and banal the conversation is on housing.
“Planning reform” lol

“One wonders when the orgy of destruction of all that is architecturally noble and attractive in Glasgow is going to stop,”
Not a quote from today, but one from a letter written to a Glasgow Newspaper in the 1970s.

A great land based initiative in Glasgow. A community farm plan for council-owned vacant land - a charity which aims to help young people living in poverty has secured a licence to occupy the council-owned site. #Land

We look forward to meeting up with ASBP member Sam Baumber @IndiNatureCo at the @ScotEcoDesign workshop on 5 April. There are multiple benefits to using natural materials in construction - for people and the planet - even better if the supply chain is home grown/produced.

I've been having a read of @HomeBuildersFed's new report - looking back at the last 20 years of housing policy, and the consequences of not building the number of new homes set out by @Barker4Kate's 2004 report. This is a depressing summary table: hbf.co.uk/documents/13439/HB…

We have delivered over 250 of the UK’s most innovative net-zero ecological homes, using locally sourced, natural materials and advanced off-site construction with n-SIPs (natural structural insulated panels). Below is a video of one of our A3 homes being erected at Loch Lomond.
Looking back to day 1 @MAKARhomes Loch Lomond home, we now have a new lexicon for post oil-age homes; modelled not designed, manufactured not constructed, assembled not built - the net-zero future is already here, made in and for Scotland 2030

This is a new apartment building in the Netherlands. It's really such a simple design and plainly detailed but I'd be so happy if this were the norm in England. Simple volumes with good windows, high quality brick, a touch of ornament and it even has underground parking.
