I had a few tears watching this.
I used to be an addict. Nearly took my life.
This should be mandatory watching in every school.

Well I'm just chuffed how well my traditional Scottish Halloween lantern turned out.
Turnips are a lot harder to scoop out then a pumpkin but good to keep the old ways alive!

Let me correct myself. Even the everyday use of language has been captured by rhetorical agendas. It's terrible communication. Important points get lost because people are more concerned with making a rhetorical impact than communicating clearly.
'A third of British children are living in poverty… that is violence to me.'
The Greens' @floschechter calls for people inspired by French protests to join an upcoming anti-austerity march.
@BenKentish asks if they condemn the violence that took place in Europe last week.

They killed a 22-year-old girl over a few strands of hair.
Then they called it Islam.
Is this really the Islam we're defending?
Her name was Mahsa Amini.
She went to Tehran on a family trip with her brother.
The morality police grabbed her outside a metro station.
Why? Some hair was showing under her hijab.
They told her brother, "Relax. It's just an hour."
An hour.
She came out in a coma.
Three days later she was dead.
Then they blamed her health.
Her family said she was perfectly fine.
The UN later found she died from violence in their custody.
Let's be honest.
This was never about modesty.
It was never about Allah.
It was about men who want to control women and use religion as the stick.
A few strands of hair.
That's what they killed her for.
So I'll ask again.
Is this the Islam we're defending?
Because if it is, we're not defending Islam. We're defending her killers.

I've lost count of how many Muslims have called me kafir.
My crime?
Calling Hamas a terror group.
On 7 October, they killed around 1,200 people in one day.
Families burned in their homes.
Young people gunned down at a music festival.
Babies taken hostage. Kfir Bibas was 9 months old.
And I'm supposed to defend that?
Because they call themselves Muslims?
No.
Killing children isn't jihad.
Kidnapping babies isn't resistance.
Burning homes isn't Islam.
Gaza's children don't deserve to die either.
Free Palestine? Yes.
Free Palestine from Hamas too.
Call me kafir.
I'll wear it.

The thing about Niall Harbison's videos is that they teach us how to be kinder. Ostensibly, we are just watching videos about dogs. (Twitter is awash with cute animal videos). But, this is the real deal. No ads, no virtue signalling. Niall's heart lights all our hearts. #Irish

Muslims, I'm not going to say "this has nothing to do with Islam" this time.
On Friday, 23 October 2026, seven Christians were shot dead at a church in Jordan.
At a funeral.
They came to bury one of their own, and their families are now burying them.
We've said "nothing to do with Islam" for 30 years, and the killing hasn't stopped.
These men weren't born killers. Somebody taught them.
It starts in a sermon that calls Jews pigs and apes.
It grows in a home where Christians are "kuffar" you can't even say hello to.
It spreads online, where non-Muslims are treated as less than human.
Then one day, someone picks up a gun and finishes the lesson.
The bullet was fired in Jordan.
But the hatred was loaded years ago, in our mosques, our homes and our comment sections.
Until we deal with that, there'll be another church and another funeral.
My deepest condolences to our Christian brothers and sisters in Jordan.
They deserved better from us.

We not had any enquiries for this lovely girl, can you please share?
Minnie is an 8 year old female cat. She is looking for a new home as her owner has sadly moved into care.
Minnie is chipped and spayed and healthy with no issues.
She would be best in a home with no other pets or kids.
Minnie likes the outdoors and will come and go, she likes attention and was a great companion pet to her owner.
She will be rehomed with some essentials.
Minnie loves Dreamies and is also registered at the vets.

Muslims, here's the truth that hurts.
Your freedom to speak was given to you by the kafir.
Not by any "Sharia nation".
Call the British Prime Minister a liar? You go home for dinner.
Call the Saudi King a liar? You don't go home.
Mock the US President? You get a TV show.
Mock Iran's Supreme Leader? You get a cell.
Raif Badawi wrote a blog.
10 years. 1,000 lashes.
Mashal Khan was accused of blasphemy. Never proven.
His fellow students beat him to death.
The West isn't perfect.
But nobody gets lashed for a blog there.
Not in London. Not in Paris. Not in New York.
We run to their countries to speak freely.
Then go online and call them the enemy.
So no.
Freedom of speech didn't come from a Sharia nation.
Not one.
The kafir gave it to you.

Never thought I'd be breathing a sigh of relief about a Tory recovery. But although I'll never vote for them I absolutely do want the Conservatives to be the main party of the right in the UK, rather than the dangerous, extremist, Putin-adjacent Reform.

There’s a thing called “cocktail eyes” - when you’re talking to someone and they’re already scanning the room for someone more important.
A lot of our politicians have cocktail eyes about the job itself. And we're the ones they're ignoring.
Local councillors who bang on about Palestine are treating their actual role (bins, hedges, planning, antisocial behaviour - the local good) as beneath them. National politicians who treat e.g. Net Zero as a chance to be “world leaders” are doing the same thing at a bigger scale: chasing status and smugness instead of the national good (energy abundance and security).
In both cases they need to put their eyes back in the room and focus on the people they are meant to serve. As Collingwood says, that alone would radically alter our country.
Read all of this. It is more important than you think. Wayne Dixon is a councillor in Leeds. He doesn't get involved in foreign policy issues. No standing with Ukraine or Palestine or Israel or wherever. He doesn't even get involved much in national issues. He just focusses, laser like, on doing small things that make the lives of his local constituents better. Cleaning up footpaths covered in wet leaves. Harassing the local authorities until they fix potholes. Cleaning up graffiti. Trimming hedges so they look neat and tidy. Liaising with the police to deal with antisocial behaviour. Ensuing that the local schools have enough places for every local who wants to send their kids there. Getting bus stops put in the right place when roads are re-laid or new roads are built. Making sure that green spaces where kids play football are not flogged off. Ensuring that important community groups and support networks are helped as much as they can be.
It is hyper local politics. It is the work that only somebody with high energy and who knows the local area can do. If we had 20,000 Wayne Dixons, the cumulative transformation in the entire country would be shocking over ten years. Any sports fan knows that marginal gains have huge cumulative effects when achieved consistently over a period of time (see the Chicago Bulls and Team Sky). Same with countries. 150,000 little, easy, cheap things over 10 years and you have almost a new country. This is achievable right now, with no changes in legislation or 'new elite'.
More politics should be about exactly this: putting right the 20 streets closest to where you live and making the lives of people who live there better. Remember: there are black and white pictures of a young Lee Kwan Yew sweeping the streets of Singapore. That's where he started his politics. Of course we need to get the big things right -- and Britain is facing at least three existential problems that only central government can address. Yet simultaneously, we also need this.
