Microsoft says a China-state-aligned hacking group used ARTEX AI agents to exploit the ConnectWise supply-chain breach, attempting access to more than 2,250 Microsoft 365 tenants.
Just FOUR compromised app credentials generated 200+ sign-ins in under four minutes.
Days earlier, the same group had launched 151,000+ password-spray attempts against Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online accounts across eight organizations, peaking at 2,900 failed logins per minute.
ZERO succeeded.
After gaining control of ConnectWise application identities, however, the attackers could authenticate through already-trusted apps. In some environments, the AI agents then modified credentials and privileged roles to establish persistent access.
Microsoft warns those changes can remain as backdoors even after the original compromised app is disabled.

if you run a website, use cloud services, store API keys on hosting platforms, or use any software built on PHP, Node.js, or Java you are potentially affected
update everything. rotate your API keys. change your passwords on critical services. enable 2FA everywhere you haven’t already

If you know anything about the history of cyber threats, worms and exploits, what's happening right now is basically a global mass-activation of "AI Stuxnet."
Even the PLCs are being targeted.
Maybe this is going to be used as narrative to criminalize open source AI or claim "AI crashed the banks" so they can carry out their financial reset plans.

Regarding potential attacks on energy, food, and water infrastructure, the threat is quite real. Someone is currently probing infra and feeling it out, it is an active threat. Even a little preparation can be helpful, just in case. This comes from the joint cybersecurity advisory released by the NSA and partner agencies on August 19:
'The threat actors are conducting reconnaissance and capability development against U.S.-based Siemens PLC installations using Al-generated exploitation scripts disguised as legitimate monitoring tools. The actors leverage Internet scanning services to find Internet-exposed PLCs running outdated software or that are otherwise poorly protected. The U.S. critical infrastructure sectors most targeted by this threat activity include Critical Manufacturing, Energy, Water and Wastewater, Chemical, Food and Agriculture, and Commercial Facilities. This is not a theoretical risk - it is an active threat. Depending on the specific circumstances, exploitation of poorly protected PLCS could lead to disruption of critical industrial processes, safety incidents, downtime or equipment damage, compromise of sensitive data, compliance violations, and cascading impacts across interconnected systems.'
'Using Al to generate exploitation scripts represents an evolution in threat actor capabilities, dramatically reducing the technical expertise and time required to develop working ICS exploitation scripts and malicious tools. In addition, Al enables adversaries to rapidly leverage additional attack vectors and adapt to defensive measures. Threat actors can easily collect public information about vulnerabilities and weaknesses, find exposed and exploitable PLCs, and use Al-generated scripts to act on that information. If PLCs are exposed to the Internet, they are at high risk for exploitation.
Threat actors are leveraging open source industrial automation libraries - specifically snap7.d11/python-snap7 - combined with Al-assisted scripting to create custom tools that mimic legitimate OT monitoring solutions. These tools provide read/write access to Siemens S7 Series PLC memory, configuration data, and ladder logic programs via the S7comm protocol.'

BREAKING: Iranian officials now believe a joint U.S.-Israeli attack is imminent and instructing the country’s armed forces to directly activate the decentralized “Mosaic Defense” doctrine, with commanders reportedly receiving extensive lists of U.S. economic and political targets to strike if war erupts, per Fars News.
A senior Iranian security official warned that U.S. political assets and infrastructure in countries participating in the conflict could be directly targeted. The doctrine disperses military command across 31 provincial commands, designed to allow Iran to continue fighting even if its central leadership is attacked.

EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 26-25
Emergency Relief Due to Motor Fuel Supply Shortages
WHEREAS, because of the high demand for motor fuels throughout the Midwest, the people of the State of Nebraska are faced with timely access to fuel products; and
WHEREAS, commercial motor vehicles and motor carriers are engaged in the business of transporting fuels to meet this unexpected demand; and
WHEREAS, commercial motor vehicles and motor carriers must drive further distances or make additional trips during their workday in order to meet immediate needs.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jim Pillen, Governor of the State of Nebraska, pursuant to the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and the emergency management laws of the State of Nebraska, find these conditions constitute an emergency, and meet the purpose pursuant to 49 CFR part 390.23 of facilitating a waiver to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, specifically 49 CFR part 395.3, maximum drive time for property-carrying vehicles.
Pursuant to this declaration, I hereby order the following:
1. A temporary waiver of Hours-of-Service requirements under 49 CFR part 395.3, property-carrying vehicles, for the limited purpose of hauling gasoline, ethanol blends of gasoline, or diesel fuel.
2. No motor carrier operating under the terms of this emergency declaration shall require or allow an ill or fatigued driver to operate a motor vehicle. A driver who notifies a motor carrier that he or she needs immediate rest shall be given at least ten (10) consecutive hours off duty before the driver is required to return to service.
3. Motor carriers or drivers currently subject to an out-of-service order are not eligible for the relief granted by this Executive Order until they have met the applicable conditions for its rescission and the order has been rescinded in writing by FMCSA.
4. Any motor vehicle, semitrailer, or trailer hauling gasoline, ethanol blends of gasoline, or diesel fuel may be up to 10% over gross and axle group limits as required by §60-6,294 without a permit for the duration of this proclamation. No single axle shall exceed the maximum axle weight limit of 20,000 pounds, and vehicles must comply with posted limits on bridges.
5. This proclamation applies to loads transported on all highways within Nebraska, excluding the Interstate system.
6. Drivers operating under this proclamation shall carry a copy of the proclamation with them as evidence of their direct support to the State of Nebraska during this emergency period.
7. This emergency relief is effective immediately and shall remain in effect until 11:59PM, November 18, 2026.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Nebraska to be affixed on this 19 day of October, 2026.
