Social security means we're effectively paying out of our own pocket to save retirees from having to sell their houses to us at market rates. The entire American economy exists to prop up the tyranny of the old over the young.
1. Homeowners track their estimated home values on Zillow and Redfin religiously
2. Those value estimates are based on recent historical comps of closed transactions
3. The market is frozen so those value estimates aren’t moving down to the true price at which the market would actually clear for a net-new listing put on the market today
4. High overlap between homeowners and stock owners, wealth effect means most homeowners dont *need* to sell. It would just be nice to sell if they could get the high price they think their home is worth
5. Due to frozen market and lack of recent comps to adjust value estimates down, homeowners believe their home is worth more than it actually is, and are enticed to list for “nice-to-have” sales at artificially high list prices
6. Due to overpriced listings the market stays frozen and the cycle reinforces itself
7. A small portion of buyers who *have to* buy do transact at those artificially high prices because they have no other choice
8. This provides just enough signal to keep the value estimates pinned artificially high
Cycle probably won’t break until homeowner move from “it would be nice to sell if I can get this price” to “I have to sell at any price”.
Which likely needs a stock market crash or recession
In the meantime prices will stay high but liquidity very low

If you're paying bonuses based off of critics, you deserve to lose your company.
Give bonuses off of PLAYER reception and sales, so developers are more likely to make games for them than a small pool of writers that failed to get into politics and film.
Gears of War: E-Day devs are already worried about getting laid off once the game is out and lose metacritic bonus
Devs reportedly have a performance bonus tied to E-Day’s Metacritic score, expected to be paid in late October, but they may need to still be full-time employees to receive it.
Sources say staff are now “on edge” and expecting another possible wave of cuts or a studio reorganization.
“It’s like you planned for a year on a meal for your family where everyone will be there and the day of, you get locked out of the building.”

The Grand WoW Conspiracy: I truly believe World of Warcraft Forever is the end product of a concerted effort over the past 7 years to sandbag Classic and puppeteer the works of the great Blizzard devs of old.
Between Classic to WOTLK Classic I had about 80 days played total on my Warrior, I was there since the very beginning; It always seemed the devs spited the playerbase, and there was always rumors that behind the scenes the Retail team was conflicting with the classic team; but aside from speculation and rumors, the spite was the obvious and frustrating part.
The main one was the No Changes clause, this was entirely malleable to suit whatever narrative Blizzard wanted at the time.. You want economy exploits, world buff exploits, pathing exploits fixed? Sorry, you wanted No Changes; but here's a mount that never existed that you can spend real money on to buy.. Also we're removing /spit because people are reacting to changes, so we're changing the game.
It was little things like this; my favourite being them allowing every exploit until Warriors found a fun one in Wrath using flame enchants, patched instantly.
It always felt like these devs hated everyone in Classic, and they would purposely monkey paw the playerbase; and why wouldn't they? They spend all this time working on retail, only to always be compared to the works of the devs before them.
It felt like no matter how it was laid out to what would be healthy for the game, they would do the complete opposite, and they would always try to encroach themselves into the game; weird out of place models like the male succubus is an example.
The new and most obvious one being the Skyborne.
Like it felt like they could never actively participate in preservation, just digital graffiti.
There was never any reason they couldn't find or train someone to match/ preserve the old art style and techniques; people would do it on social media just fine, yet they couldn't hire them?
I honestly believe nothing they do is because they care about the fanbase or preserving the game, I think they've been preparing a retail-style takeover for years by consistently lowering your expectations and standards over years of concerted efforts to sand bag and graffiti the spirit of classic WOW. The classic + that we should have gotten from a healthy development team wouldn't have had Dragonflight style elves for one.. this is obvious.

Chemically castrating and dismembering confused children does not save lives. There has never been any evidence to back up this claim -- the best scientific evidence we have on this question disputes it.
The proposition was insane the moment it was made and the pathological social process to which the proposition gave rise will as a matter of certainty make the situation worse rather than better.
No politician that backed this absurdity as if it was the truth did the slightest bit of due diligence to discern whether it was true; they simply vested unthinking faith in the people claiming it because it aligned with a posture they were inclined to take. All have eschewed any attempt to learn whether the mindless copypasted slogans -- all self-conscious misinformation and lies -- they parrot has any factual basis.
That the whole world does not know the reality is solely a function of a conspiracy to suppress truth and propagate lies within media and other key vectors of social consensus.
There has never been a more flagrant failure of our truth-certifying institutions.
I got a quote from @BradLander, who is the former NYC comptroller and the Democratic nominee to replace @DanielSGoldman in New York's 10th congressional district, on the deal Mt. Sinai cut with the DoJ to keep its pediatric gender clinic closed:
“Gender-affirming care saves lives, respects the rights of patients, and reflects that health-care is supposed to be between providers and patients, not between providers and the Trump Administration," Mr. Lander said.
"I recently met with families of trans kids, some of whom moved to New York because of our legacy of inclusion, who now feel like refugees forced to look for a new home that will protect their kids’ well-being. Shame on Mt. Sinai for capitulating with this settlement, which violates that legacy of inclusion, their own Hippocratic oath, and New York’s human rights laws.”
I wrote the following in response to Mr. Lander's press contact:
"Note, however, that only one study has ever directly assessed whether there was an independent, statistically significant difference in the suicide death rate based on whether youths attending gender clinics received cross-sex hormone treatment. Conducted based on comprehensive national health records in Finland, the 2024 study found no such association."
I'll let you know if Mr. Lander's office replies.
