The captain said that they were told not to press and Evra still wants to blame the players. Someone did say that the problem at United is the ghosts from its past
🚨 Patrice Evra on Michael Carrick staying at Manchester United: “Now the players have run out of excuses.”
🗣️ Patrice Evra:
“Honestly, if Michael Carrick stays at Manchester United, I think some players need to look at themselves in the mirror.
“Every season, we hear the same things. New manager, new tactics, new system, new project. Everybody gets excited, the fans start believing again, and suddenly we are talking about a fresh start.
“But what happens when things go wrong? The manager becomes the problem. The tactics are questioned. People start asking for another rebuild. And the players? Somehow, many of them survive to see another manager arrive.
“Listen, I played for Manchester United. I know what that badge means. This is not a club where you can perform well for three games, disappear for five, and expect the supporters to keep defending you because you are a big-name player.
“If Carrick is given the job, he must be judged on his decisions, his results and the football he produces. But the players must also understand that a new manager is not a magic wand. He cannot give you desire, concentration and responsibility if you refuse to bring those things yourself.
“Some players have worked under different managers, different coaches and different systems. At what point do we stop saying they need time to adapt? How much time does a professional footballer need to understand that he must fight for every ball and give everything for his club?
“And let me tell you something: if Carrick comes in and starts getting results, don’t suddenly praise the manager while forgetting the players who were making excuses before he arrived. And if things go badly, don’t immediately throw him under the bus either.
“Manchester United cannot keep changing the person in the dugout while expecting the same group of players to suddenly become a different team.”
“The fans have waited long enough. They don’t want another promise. They want to see commitment, consistency and players who understand the responsibility of wearing that shirt.
“If Michael Carrick stays, let him build. Let him make his decisions. But nobody should be comfortable simply because another manager has arrived to take the pressure off them.
“At Manchester United, your reputation should not protect you from criticism. Your performances should speak for you. The excuses must end.”

🚨 José Mourinho on Kylian Mbappé losing the 2026 Ballon d’Or to Harry Kane:
🎙️ Interviewer: “José, do you think Kylian Mbappé was robbed of the Ballon d’Or?
José Mourinho:
“Robbed? I will let the people decide that. But tell me something: what more was Kylian supposed to do? He finished as the World Cup’s top scorer, the Champions League’s top scorer, and La Liga’s top scorer. Three enormous stages. Goals, pressure, responsibility. And at the end of the night, he sat there watching somebody else lift the biggest individual award in football. Not one trophy for him. Not one reward that reflected the season he had. What message does that send?
“Let me be clear: Harry Kane is a fantastic striker. I respect him. But does he deserve this Ballon d’Or MORE than Mbappé? For me, no. And I know that will upset people, because football has become a place where you are not allowed to question an award without somebody accusing you of disrespect”
“But awards must mean something! If a player dominates the scoring charts in the biggest competitions and still cannot convince the voters, then what exactly are we rewarding? Popularity? A beautiful story? Who people feel deserves a moment? Because if statistics, consistency and decisive performances are no longer enough, then stop pretending this award is purely about football”
“The saddest part is that the Ballon d’Or is losing its importance. Fans used to argue about it for months because they believed it represented the highest standard in the game. Now, when the winner is announced, people argue about whether the award itself can still be trusted. That should frighten the organisers”
“And spare me the idea that Mbappé should simply smile, clap and pretend it does not hurt. He is human. He watched a season of extraordinary achievements end without the recognition many believed he had earned. You can respect Harry Kane and still believe Mbappé deserved it more”
“When the player who tops the scoring charts in the World Cup, Champions League and La Liga walks away empty-handed, you cannot blame people for questioning the entire system. If that is not enough, then tell us what is. Because right now, the biggest question is not why Mbappé lost. It is whether the Ballon d’Or still means what it used to mean.”
Interviewer: “So you believe Mbappé deserved it over Kane?
José Mourinho:
“Yes. And people can disagree with me. That is football. But answer me honestly: if you were Mbappé, after that season, would you believe the award was decided on football alone?”

🚨 Zinedine Zidane on Harry Kane winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or:
🗣️ Zinedine Zidane: “Kane has won it. I have seen the list. Mbappé took the Golden Boot at the World Cup, the Champions League and La Liga. Olise was the best in the Bundesliga and the best at Bayern. Kvara was the best in the Champions League. Yamal was the best in La Liga and he won the World Cup. Bellingham was England’s player of the year. Kane did not win a single Player of the Tournament award. He finished first. That is the decision.
“People say trophies matter. Fine. Then explain why no PSG player made the top five. Explain why Messi is fifth while he is playing in MLS. He is there largely because of a World Cup. The players who won the major awards are behind Kane. That is what the ranking says. I do not understand how that ranking is built.
“This award has been subjective for years. Journalists vote based on what they prefer. That is why the same arguments come back every season. It is not only about Mbappé. It is about the process. The individual awards go one way. The Ballon d’Or goes another way. People are asked to accept it. Many of them do not.
“Kane is a good player. He scores goals. That is not the argument. The argument is the gap between what the players achieved and where they finished. Yamal won the World Cup and La Liga Player of the Season. He is third. Mbappé won three Golden Boots. He is second. Kane is first. Those are the positions. That is what the voters produced. It does not match the trophies. It does not match the individual awards. It is what it is.”

🚨🗣️Zlatan Ibrahimovic Questions How Kane Beat Mbappé to the Gerd Müller Trophy
“I understand giving Harry Kane the Ballon d’Or, but giving him the Gerd Müller Trophy as well when Kylian Mbappé is right there? That is unacceptable.
Mbappé finished as the top scorer in La Liga with 25 goals, the Champions League with 15 goals, and the World Cup with 10 goals. What more does a striker need to do to earn recognition?
You cannot tell me that a player who finishes as the top scorer in three of football’s biggest competitions doesn't deserve the award for the best goalscorer.
Harry Kane is a fantastic striker, but Mbappé's individual numbers deserve just as much respect. Denying him this award is unfair. If individual achievements still matter in football, then Kylian Mbappé deserves his flowers.

He lost to a 33yrs old player whom at some stage never looked like he'd win the Carabao Cup, let alone the Balon.
I know Y'all hate the young man, but please apply your minds.
This was the only chance for Mbappe , he will never smell the Ballon d’Or in his career
