If ActionSA’s electoral performance proves anything, it is that your presence in parliament matters. The party has effectively become the unofficial opposition, filling the gap left by the MK Party’s lacklustre attempt at establishing itself as the official opposition. ActionSA has put in the work over the past two years, consistently positioning itself in the political conversation and holding the GNU to account. It appears that work is now paying off.

One thing i will always admire about Herman Mashaba is that he has given young people a chance to lead. I’ve met many powerful old people (men to be specific). They are narcissists suffering from grandiosity. If you outperform them, they will sabotage you.

As a Kenyan I envy Paraguay. Corrupt politicians should never go scot-free! The level of corruption in Kenya is so high even the World Bank couldn't believe it! 🇰🇪

This gives me some shivers. You made the right move by joining ActionSA. Something I have been wishing when you were in the other party. I looked at how you speak with conviction, how eager you are and how dedicated to your work you are. Congratulations to you councillor 💚

He removed Mamdani's verification in efforts to shadow ban after that ratio. Imagine how he'd weaponise Starlink in South Africa when the govt doesn't do what he wants

This isn’t touching to me.
Naomi Osaka's Grandfather Refused to Speak to Her Mother for Years. In 2018, He Wept Watching Naomi on Television Somewhere in Hokkaido, a 73-year-old man watched his granddaughter on television, and wept. His name is Tetsuo Osaka. And for years, he had not spoken to his own daughter. Her name is Tamaki. She grew up in Nemuro, a fishing town at the eastern tip of Hokkaido. Her mother's ancestors fished in the Kuril Islands until the Soviet Union took them over at the end of the Second World War, and the family moved to Nemuro. For high school, Tamaki went to Sapporo. There, in 1990, she met a Haitian-American college student named Leonard François. They kept the relationship secret for years. When Tamaki's father began pushing the idea of an arranged marriage, she told him about Leonard. He did not approve. He accused her of bringing shame on the family, because Leonard was not Japanese or simply he was Black. The couple moved far away from Hokkaido, to the city of Osaka. That is where Naomi was born, in October 1997. Her surname, in the end, came from her mother's side. For a long stretch, Tamaki had little to no contact with her family. Accounts differ on how long. One says about five years. Another says about a decade. A third says twelve years. Then, slowly, the silence ended. Naomi's Japanese grandfather had been against the family's plan for her tennis, and the decision to homeschool her. But he came around. Eventually, he became one of her biggest supporters. When she won the US Open in 2018, he was 73, and he cried. In January 2019, at 74, he smiled at a press conference in Nemuro, the town his daughter had left. In 2021, he told a Japanese newspaper that he would like Naomi to open a tennis school for children in Nemuro. He likened her to an alpinist, always going after higher mountains.

Why don’t they ask about the politicians hostile to other countries(brown ones) and other religions(brown ones)? Why is racism only questioned for one group of people?
“The point of winning power is to deliver for everyone.” @NYCMayor @ZohranKMamdani masterfully handles Tapper’s latest Israel bait.

Simply , I believe an institution is people and policies. ANC policies have been solid in most parts. The people aspect was once great and then it declined and it now requires improvement. But the ANC is not dead its declining and needs to address the people aspect because people implement policies. Gone are the days when leaders were handed down and people accepted it because they trusted the ANC. ANC needs to be home for the nation's best talent or else the decline will continue
The ANC's decline is traceable and historically documented. The warning signs were there, even when people pointed out that things were going wrong. Instead of confronting those concerns, we became defensive, justified our positions and insisted that everything was under control.

I’m always filled with so much emotion after voting. It STILL blows my mind that there was a time when people who looked like me were denied the right to vote in their own country. It’s one of the many reasons I’ll never not vote. Forever grateful to those who fought for our freedom. 🇿🇦

Talent was never scarce in this country. Opportunity was. Policy changed who got a fair shot. It didn't write my exams or do my job for me. That's exactly why I can be grateful for the door and still be critical of the people guarding it today.

Fully agree, and I'll own it. I'm very much an ANC beneficiary. BEE made it possible for the state to pay for my studies. After I qualified, it opened the door to a managerial role. I am where I am today because of policies the ANC put in place. But make no mistake, that will not make me loyal to a party that today does not put South Africans first. Gratitude for what was done yesterday doesn't excuse what's being done today. The best way to honour what we were given is to hold the people in power to the same standard that got us here. That's why I'm voting with my head, not my history.
Don’t think calling someone an ANC beneficiary is a “gotcha” moment or an insult. EVERY SOUTH AFRICAN is a beneficiary of the ANC. We are standing in lines today to vote because of them (and others). Reflect on that. THIS DOES NOT MEAN IM VOTING ANC!

I live in the suburbs, but I'm under no illusion about how far removed I am from the townships. One missed salary could easily change my postcode. So township development is very much my business.
