When Vance first asked me to meet with him before he entered for Congress, I could tell he was still trying to figure out his personality and for the most part settled on this kind of softer populist who tried to “humanize” Trumpism. He even asked me once for help on how to deal the very same white nationalist crowd he now winks at during Trump rallies. Watching him transition from that to someone who is willing to downplay child sexual abuse and as a result make it harder for other victims to come forward for fear that they won’t be believed or will be ridiculed while simultaneously promoting a memoir about his fake faith, well. I think Vance will be a footnote in the history of MAGA, but it’ll be a footnote about a man who sold his soul for a crumb of power and who never actually stood for anything.

BREAKING: The Dallas Morning News just announced they are endorsing James Talarico over Ken Paxton. The Dallas Morning News had previously endorsed Senator John Cornyn in every race he ever ran. This is amazing.

Vance traveled to Hungary in April, where he said he was "here to help" Orban's re-election bid. pbs.org/newshour/world/watch…
From VP pool report (which included a readout of Vance interview with @MarkHalperin): "Vance declined to endorse Netanyahu and replied that he endorses American candidates and is not getting involved in Israeli elections"

Vance said he endorses American candidates and is not getting involved in Israeli elections, but in April 2026 he spoke at a campaign rally for Viktor Orban in Hungary and urged voters to reelect him.

Donald Trump canceled his scheduled Oct. 16 deposition in his lawsuit against the BBC because of "matters of national importance."
The BBC alerts the judge that those matters were: a rally in Dalton, Ga. and a fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago.

ALT The BBC submits this Notice to raise newly available information regarding the “matters of national importance” that Plaintiff claimed kept him from his scheduled deposition. As the BBC now knows, on October 16, Plaintiff attended and addressed a campaign rally in Dalton, Georgia, alongside Plaintiff’s favored candidates in Georgia’s upcoming U.S. Senate and gubernatorial elections. Plaintiff subsequently traveled to his resort club and residence at Mar-a-Lago for a Republican National Committee fundraising event.

This is unprecedented. This will be the first midterm election in modern history where a president did not have a White House press secretary to spin the results and be his advocate. I think Trump is going to respond very badly to the Election Night GOP bloodbath we are going to see happen in 17 days.
🇺🇸 Trump has apparently decided the White House can survive without a press secretary.
After Karoline Leavitt's departure and Katie Zacharia's spectacularly short five-day tenure, Peter Doocy reports that Trump is in “NO RUSH” to find another replacement.
There isn't even a shortlist.
And apparently, the president thinks things have been running perfectly well without someone behind the briefing room podium.
Which is pretty funny when you think about it.
Trump already answers half the world's questions himself, usually before anyone has even asked them.
Maybe he's starting to wonder why he needs a press secretary at all.

I’m told Trump was embarrassed by the coverage of Zacharia’s briefing and when he polled other aides about her, Zacharia had few allies willing to stand up for her or defend her performance. The main reason he rushed to select her after growing irritated with how long the process was taking to replace Karoline Leavitt was because he wanted more people defending him on TV. When she failed to do so in a sufficient way with Sean Hannity, Trump said he knew she needed to go.

This may not be a popular opinion at the moment, but I can't help but feel bad for @KatieZacharia
Yes -- this is her own fault bc she misled abt the attorney/lawyer title when she in fact hadn't passed the Bar.
But regardless of politics, she seems like a nice lady who wanted to serve her president.
And man. Getting grilled by Hannity and Fox & Friends -- & other friendly media outlets -- after that initial botched presser? All fair questions on their part. But just brutal to watch.
Brutal.
This is the big leagues, however. Can't take the job unless you know and are ready for the heat.
God this is all so embarrassing.
EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph.
The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries.
‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement.
But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe.
The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown.
‘He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,’ the source said.

It may just be the most succinct summary of what is about to happen to the current Trump administration that I have seen.
