9. What unfolded after
• coldcard RNG flaw (firmware from March 2021) → drains starting late July 2026, eventually ~1,800+ BTC (~$100M+ range) from thousands of addresses.
• Ledger CryptoBilis reseller (SE Asia) → Oct 9, 2026: $86–93M+ drained from hundreds of wallets. Suspected supply-chain tampering (hidden implant reports by Karpelès). Ledger systems not breached.
• Ongoing data leaks, phishing via official channels, kernel-level device risks (I covered kernel exploits on Spaces months earlier).
10. CZ’s post-incident advice (quarantine new wallets 2 weeks, diversify, stay informed) is correct for the current hardware model.
It does not remove the attack surface: supply chain, firmware that can sit broken for years, physical devices, screen/USB side-channels, and the need to go online to spend.

Recent hardware wallet supply chain security concerns are making us rethink how crypto assets should be protected.
Does secure crypto storage really require another dedicated hardware device?
Using a hardware wallet also means introducing another device whose manufacturing, distribution, and handling process must be trusted.

FORMER CRYPTOBILIS OWNERS BREAK SILENCE ON LEDGER SUPPLY CHAIN ATTACK
CryptoBilis co-founders Arravind Prabu and Vimalatheethan have issued an official statement distancing themselves from the company’s current operations following reports of compromised Ledger devices.
According to the statement:
• CryptoBilis was acquired by new ownership earlier this year.
• Both founders stepped down and completed the operational handover in March 2026.
• Neither has had access to customer databases, order histories, backend systems, or administrative accounts since the handover.
• The acquisition agreement prohibited a joint public announcement until mid-October 2026, although suppliers had reportedly been informed of the ownership change.
• Both founders offered to provide Ledger with historical information to assist its investigation.
The statement identifies Nicholas Chang as the current person in charge of CryptoBilis.
The revelations raise further questions about the reseller’s ownership transition and the timeline of the suspected Ledger supply chain attack.
