@tsu_kareta explains how it differs, offering privacy for your DeFi on Ethereum, while a mixer is strictly to break the chain of custody between two addresses.
Instead, Railgun is a safe with a lockbox, one you can put any Ethereum-supported token in it, and use zero-knowledge proofs to spend from it privately or access integrated DeFi like lending, borrowing, and swaps.

The result: On Ethereum, fees are now 14–30% lower.

We measured Railgun’s gas down to the proof and priced fees on what it actually costs. On Ethereum, typical fees are 14% to 30% lower.
