It’s actually insane to say in your IPO filing that if the law applies to you all of your prospective shareholders will suffer.
Replying to @matthewstoller
The most important risk factor for Anthropic is the rule of law actually being applied. "Any determination that we are liable under such theories, or any judicial or regulatory expansion of tort, product liability, or consumer protection law, or criminal liability, as applied to AI models, could result in significant liability and require us to change how we design and offer our models, platform, and applications."

There’s a reason the great dystopian novels envision a world without literacy. Those books warned about the very age we’re now living in. Those who abandon reading & writing are surrendering their powers of thinking. What’s shocking is that so many would surrender so readily.
We're about to enter a period where not reading or writing becomes as ubiquitous as smoking once was. We can hope people will eventually realize this is bad for them, as they did with smoking. But this is far from certain; the cost may not be as obvious.

Best thing about Kane winning the Ballon d’Or is that he didn’t spend the last 2 months on a huge ego-tripping PR campaign in the media, attempting to discredit other players, like certain other candidates. Just let his season, stats and ability to do the talking. Class. 👏👏

So the third-largest company on the planet is willing to cut 27% of its workforce due to AI, its stock rises on the news, and I’m supposed to believe this technology is great for the future of humanity?
Microsoft is offering buyouts to 60,000(!) employees. Headcount and revenue growth is really starting to diverge at tech companies.

“There is a danger associated with growing up, of putting aside children’s books. We must be careful lest all we are left with is a world that is very much not alive, a natural world that is mere piles of stuff – stuff that people can use or not use, preserve or destroy, just as they want.” Susanna Clarke, In Defence of Fantasy Fiction

It’s deeply disrespectful to us Brazilians, who spent 20 days mobilizing across the country, standing up to Big Tech and imperialist forces, to credit our victory as a nation to an American billionaire who said absolutely nothing about our elections. Delete this shit, @Variety.

It's not said enough that it was the British Press funding Thomas Markle’s lifestyle.
Replying to @JillFilipovic
That man got money to keep funding that lifestyle because the British media kept giving him money to trash his daughter. They knew who he was. His first wife already went public about his vice, they ignored it

Yikes. Anthropic just pulled the exact accounting trick that companies did in 2000 bubble for IPO. They hid all their expenses via convertible notes redeemable at IPO. $108 billion worth. Dotcom firms often paid suppliers, ad agencies, lawyers and even landlords with stock or equity to save cash. AOL swapped shares for services and ads (e.g., Homestore, DrKoop). Telecom suppliers like Lucent, Cisco and Nortel used vendor financing, sometimes with equity or warrants, to drive equipment sales.
So we’re all in agreement Anthropic was paying all of its expenses in convertible notes?

This is extraordinary detail on how the 250 MP candidates on the Student List were chosen in Serbia. They are now projected to win about 140 of 250 seats. Incredible outbreak of direct, participatory democracy to product a Parliament of doctors, scientists, artists and activists.

We do not need the HALAL certification as 90% citizens of this country: SABS is South Africa’s national standards body. It sets secular technical standards (SANS) for product quality, safety and hygiene, including food. The SABS mark confirms compliance with those rules. Halaal is a separate voluntary religious certification by private bodies like SANHA or MJC. It checks Islamic dietary rules (no pork, specific slaughter, no contamination) for Muslim consumers or exports. They are unrelated. Food safety and cleanliness in SA are governed by SABS standards plus laws from Health and Agriculture departments, not religious marks.
