So the legendary website on the bibliography of South Asian ornithology compiled by Aasheesh Pittie sir is back up and better. This is absolute treasure for anybody studying anything related to birds in the region.

Sad. I am still puzzled why the physically water starved Tamil Nadu state is ignoring its life giving river and being silent spectators. TN leads in number of dead rivers (River that is not even suitable for aquatic life)

A vagrant Northern wheatear landed in Toronto earlier this week.
For context, these are the usual migratory routes of the species in North America. The ones on the eastern American arctic fly across the Atlantic and south to Africa. I hope it reaches their usual destination!✨

I just finished 'Beware of Pity' by Stefan Zweig. What a wonderful dive into the human mind!
Zweig says of Dostoevsky that he has “the magnifying power of a microscope and the clarifying insight of a seer”. It sounds just as true for Zweig himself!

A floral tribute to Tamil Nadu, with a new species!!!
Botanists from the @bsi_moefcc have discovered and described a new plant species, 𝘊𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘢 𝘵𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴, from the hill slopes of the Nellai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. Uncovered during a routine floristic exploration, this new perennial herb was found thriving near a stream in grassland habitats surrounded by evergreen forest.

Say what?! Massive #planets could form in the dusty regions around active supermassive #blackholes. They could start around the mass of Jupiter and keep growing. A single black hole could spawn millions of planets at a time. 😮 🪐⚫️
