For decades, the ruling one-party system, the People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), has maintained control over the country’s political and economic power, including its valuable natural resources, gold, and national wealth. Yet, while the country possesses significant resources, ordinary Eritreans continue to struggle with poverty, hunger, and hardship. While those in power hold on to their positions and wealth, our people continue to suffer. Families struggle to survive, innocent citizens remain imprisoned without due process, and generations are being denied their freedom, opportunities, and dignity. The suffering of the Eritrean people must never be forgotten. Our country’s resources should serve its people, not a political system or a handful of individuals. No dictatorship lasts forever, and no injustice should go unanswered. One day, Eritrea will be a nation where justice, freedom, human dignity, equality, and the rule of law belong to every citizen. #ERITREANS AND #ETHIOPIANS: OUR BROTHERS, OUR NEIGHBORS — LET US NOT PROMOTE WAR. We, Eritreans and Ethiopians, are brothers and neighbors. Our people share history, culture, family ties, and generations of connections. We should never allow political disagreements to turn us against one another. War will only bring fear, suffering, displacement, and loss of innocent lives.
