Alabama’s prisons have become the state’s largest mental health facilities.

Former Redemption Earned Executive Director, Justice Sue Bell Cobb (ret) said, "Redemption Earned staff and volunteers applaud Sen. Clyde Chambliss and Rep. Chris England for requiring the Chair of the ALBP&P to be accountable for the lowest parole rate in history, particularly

Retired Chief Justice and Pro Bono Executive Director stated: "Redemption Earned Staff and Board plead with the legislative leadership to immediately submit a slate of candidates for the Parole Board to the Governor. Those nominees should believe in parole or in other words, ...

The AL Board of Pardons & Paroles has granted parole to just 7.5% of eligible people, the lowest % in over a decade. A current vacancy on the board leaves these decisions up to two people. Our state leaders need to do their jobs and fill that vacancy.
