150 people in federal prison, sentenced before 1987, have never been eligible for relief. Many are elderly and ill. It’s time for #clemencynow. Hear FAMM’s Debi Campbell make the case for compassion and justice.

ABP&P, under the leadership of Chair Leigh Gwathney, denies parole to worthy people every day, no appeal, no right to be present. #ManifestInjustice #redemptionearned
Nothing short of Federal Court Intervention will fix the crisis in Alabama’s Department of Corrections and Pardons and Paroles. #alpolitics

Www.redemptionearned.org has now gained the deserved freedom of 7 incarcerated adults. Our recidivism rate is “0”.
100% of the people I know who have gotten out of prison named “giving back” as a top priority.

If the state of Alabama had its way, Mr. Lee Davis would still be in prison. There are hundreds, maybe thousands like him in ADOC who have been locked up far too long & deserve a new chance at freedom. Creating pathways out of a deadly prison system should not be controversial.

The AL Board of Pardons & Paroles has granted parole to just 7.5% of eligible people, the lowest % in over a decade. A current vacancy on the board leaves these decisions up to two people. Our state leaders need to do their jobs and fill that vacancy. aldailynews.com/less-than-8-…

We need P&P board members who actually believe more in granting parole to worthy people than pure vengeance. Help redemptionearned.org provide free legal representation at parole hearings for worthy “aged&infirmed” incarcerated adults. #redemption

"There are more than 200,000 of us serving life sentences in the U.S., and we are never granted the opportunity to show growth and progress," writes Antwann Lamont Johnson. Read "The Case for More Second Chances" on our site: prisonjournalismproject.org/…

"Crime is a young man’s game, but prisons aren’t," Walter Hart writes. "The prison population of people 55 and older has tripled over the last two decades. The same trend holds true where I’m incarcerated, in California," writes Walter. Read: prisonjournalismproject.org/…

On behalf of everyone in AL who cares about true justice, not vengeance, but appropriate sentencing of all offenders, we thank @CarlaCrowder12 & @AlaAppleseed for all that you did this session to help those who been more than adequately punished. www.redemptionearned thanks you
I'm so grateful for everyone who stood up for Second Chances in Alabama in 2023. There were a lot of us who chose hope over fear. And we're not going away.

0ver 1100 people over 65 are being held in AL prisons. Many of them are NO longer a threat to public safety. Help redemptionearned.org find them & help them gain parole & placements in nursing homes. #redemption
The death march inside Alabama prisons continues, while lawmakers pass more bills to increase punishments. This is why our prisons are overcrowded & unconstitutional. Also because people in power don't care if prisoners suffer. alreporter.com/2023/06/05/tw…

Mr.Summerville
After over 36 years in prison, we are proud to announce our client Moses Summerville has been paroled. Like all of our clients, he deserved redemption. We are thrilled that two members of the board agreed. Please help us with this important work.

I feel encouraged by this news in Alabama. "In an era where politicians feel the pressure to always be tough on crime, both England and Bachus contend there must be a place for humanity, mercy and second chances." @AlaAppleseed

Alabamians have continued to vote for state officials who have failed to demand that AL prisons be safe. It is morally WRONG to lock people in places where they will be attacked, raped, & forced to do drugs. redemptionearned.org #redemption
