The same Head of Faculty also said the Board of Electors was absolutely unanimous and that Cambridge had listened to the voices of black scholars He said he was NON VERBAL until 11 and ILLITERATE until 18. Four to five HOURS of speech therapy every single day. Experts told his family at the AGE OF 3 he would need ASSISTED LIVING and lifelong support. Grown up on a Clapham COUNCIL ESTATE. Mother a mental health nurse. Father a chef. 2nd youngest of four brothers. Working class. This guy spun the web so wide it tangled itself. Diagnostic manuals say ASPERGER’S did not exist in 1988. Today the Guardian reported he claimed Simon & Schuster paid him 1.4 MILLION for the memoir. He never said if it was pounds or dollars. Publisher has not confirmed it. One senior publisher called the figure utterly mad and said a book like this would normally get around £10,000. Here is what else he claimed. He kept adding floors to a building that was never checked, and eventually the weight told. It is the adult version of the boy who cried wolf. Not a child telling tales. A grown man in his forties who kept adding to the story for years. After enough versions did not hold, people stopped giving the next one a free pass. Even the claims that might have had something behind them now sit under the same cloud. That is how it works when the web gets too wide. One point you stop believing anything. This is not just one man. This is what happens when universities, media and public bodies stop doing the basic checks because the story fitted the one they wanted. How many more are sitting inside the system unchallenged because nobody looked. Once enough claims fall apart, the benefit of the doubt goes with them. That is not cruelty. That is what happens when the pattern becomes clear. Nothing to do with the colour of anyone’s skin. Everything to do with the colour of the claims when you actually hold them up to the light.
