đź‘‘ Reign is coming to the WooCommerce Marketplace. WooCommerce powers more than four million stores. Direct-response and subscription merchants on WooCommerce will be able to run the Reign checkout and payments on the store they already have. Thank you to the @WooCommerce and Automattic teams, and to Jesse Friedman (@professor) for giving merchants the tools to be on top.

Fun fact: The PayPal “mafia” - people who worked closely with Elon Musk - all went on to launch multi-billion-dollar ventures like YouTube, Yelp, LinkedIn, and many, many others. I always advise young people who want to drop out of college to start an ecom store to begin by learning the ropes of the business. The reality of ecom - and any business, really - is that you need an exceptional level of work ethic. You can’t have that if you’ve not worked a day in your life at a “real” job. So go and start by learning the ropes of the business under a real 7- or 8-figure ecom operator. You’ll rapidly increase your odds of success.

Grüns went from launch to a $1.2 billion exit in just 32 months, selling nutritional gummies. They: - Launched in August 2023, sold to Unilever in April 2026 - Crossed $300M in annualised revenue in under two years - 1M+ customers and 95,000+ 5-star reviews Here’s a breakdown of how they succeeded: Before Grüns became mainstream, the industry standard was a chalky powder that tasted like grass that customers scooped into water every morning. People bought it, felt virtuous for a while, and then stopped. There was a huge adherence problem in the industry. But brands have always treated this as a willpower problem on the customer's part. Grüns changed that entire customer experience. Users describe it as a treat they look forward to, rather than a supplement they have to remember to take. This helps run Grüns’ subscription model like a machine. When a customer puts a product in the cart, it gives them two options: - Subscribe and pay $23.51 for the product (delivered every 4 weeks) - Buy one-time and pay $48.32 Customers pay double the price for not committing. The one-off buyer gets a one-time discount of $5, making subscription the obvious value pick. Now a bit about their strategy: - Grüns scaled to massive revenue on just one SKU. - Instead of marketing the gummies as good for general health, they built messaging around six buyer avatars (such as gut, skin, brain fog, recovery). - They drop limited-edition flavors. Surveys showed some first-time buyers ordered purely to try a seasonal one, and the strategy also pulls lapsed customers back. Which brings us to their impressive revenue numbers: By month 24, the DTC giant was already generating $25M every month in revenue and shipping four million gummies a day. By April 2025, the brand was available nationwide across Walmart, Target, Sprouts, and Sam's Club, while DTC continued to bring in the majority of its revenue. Grüns is one of the best examples of how to disrupt an industry by understanding and then solving customer problems (instead of dismissing them).

An underrated piece of advice on hiring superstars: Look for entrepreneurial spirit. 90% of the people we hire are former founders who have run offers and had agencies that, for whatever reason, didn't end up working out, but they had the hustle and industry knowledge to be successful with us.

Biggest mistakes ecom stores make at $200,000/month: 1. Hiring cheap talent When you're a scrappy little store, the mindset is to hire cheaply to maintain margins. In the beginning, all you need are a few VAs. But the same mindset stunts you as you try to scale up. Keep hiring on price instead of talent quality, and it becomes a serious bottleneck on growth. At $200,000/month, founders should be investing in learning how to hire instead of winging it. It's a learnable skill. 2. Running high ad volume of low quality Ecom gurus love saying that scaling means running more ads. But if all you're doing is pushing more ads without paying attention to their quality, you're just scaling junk. More ads only work when you do deep research and tie every single one back to a pain point or a reason people actually want the product. Ten high-intent ads beat 50 thrown at the wall. tl;dr: scaling past 200k takes smarter behind-the-scenes logistics. What got you here won't get you to the next level.

I don’t know why more people don’t gamify their pop-ups. We’ve been seeing merchants crush it with this over the wheel spinner.

Fastest way to get more people to subscribe to your product (as an ecom founder): Stack the page in a way that subscribing becomes the choice. A majority of ecom stores give people only two options: buy once or subscribe monthly. This makes it a 50/50 choice. But notice how one of the biggest ecom brands right now is doing it. It gives visitors three options to pick from, two of which are subscriptions. Meanwhile, the one-time purchase is at the bottom in small text and presented as the worst value option. Picking this option would mean that customers will pay more and get less (product and freebies). Subscribing, on the other hand, has real, tangible benefits, such as: - Buying only once costs around 43% more per serving on both pages. - The free welcome kit only comes with a subscription. - The longer plan comes with a longer money-back guarantee (so committing to more actually means risking less). Between the quarterly subscription and the worst value “buy-once” option, the monthly subscription feels like the safe middle ground.

This morning we posted about how Phoenix routes around failing merchant accounts. Here's what that looked like for one of our merchants this week 🛡️ Stripe put their account on hold, and they had no idea. Phoenix automatically routed all of their transactions to another merchant account, so their orders kept going through. We make sure our merchants win 💸
