We need a YIMBY movement in: CA OR WA CO IL NY NJ MA RI CT Like it's an imperative.
Tillamook Row in Portland, OR fits 16 homes with shared lawns and gardens onto a single 32,000 sf lot. In much of Greater Boston, half of communities require 40,000 sf or more just for one single-family home on 50%+ of their land. Only 4% of MA land allows 4 units+ 'by right.'

This empty car wash at 400 Divis is proof of SF’s housing death spiral - over 200 homes stalled for nearly a decade I’m working to change the law so projects can build under the rules they applied with, cutting millions in costs and finally turning sites like this into housing.

Notable: the Family Zoning Plan barely passed 4–3. Three commissioners voted against legalizing homes—even at the risk of a state takeover. They were appointed by past Boards of Supervisors. To build the housing we need, SF must elect a pro-growth Board that can appoint pro-growth commissioners across every city function.
Big win: The Planning Commission approved Mayor Lurie’s Family Zoning Plan! 🎉 This plan legalizes 36,000 new homes by eliminating outdated zoning rules. Next stop: Board of Supervisors. Let’s build the homes San Francisco families need. 🏘️ growsf.org/news/2025-09-12-p…

There is a bill in Congress right now that would allow the State Department to revoke the passports of American citizens that criticize U.S. foreign policy. How is this even remotely legal?

"Just kill them". He's not just celebrating someone's death. He's calling for mass murder, something not protected by free speech in any form. Absolutely nobody on "the right" will call for his firing, will they? This country is rapidly becoming unrecognizable.
Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people: "Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill them."

Alabama school lunch lady fired—for collecting donations to pay for student lunches. She respected donors' wishes to stay anonymous—school board said she "could not be trusted." "I made a mistake... I don’t think I should get terminated just for not telling," she testified. Funds must stay above $200 in the PTO bank account—and she just didn't want any kids to go hungry. Avette Dunn argued that her job description never said she couldn’t collect the money—and the donors reached out to her in the first place. Shelby Elementary School is located in Shelby County, Alabama. #DemsUnited

The 2026 Michigan Senate Democratic primary is going to be a fascinating case study in the modern power of traditional institutional support (Senate Dem leadership, unions, state party Black caucus, AIPAC) vs. anemic grassroots support & being absolutely loathed on social media.
You deserve better. Here in Michigan, we understand just how important our union workers are. That’s why I’m fighting for you with my UAW Job Protection Act.

America First?
Tesla is being sued for allegedly hiring visa holders over U.S. citizens. The lawsuit claims visa workers are preferred, while Americans are rejected or disproportionately laid off because visa workers are cheaper. “The lawsuit was brought by software engineer Scott Taub and human resources specialist Sofia Brander, who said Tesla refused to hire them after learning they would not need sponsorship for employment, an indication they were U.S. citizens. Taub said he was dissuaded from seeking one job after being told it was for "H1B only," and not invited to interview for a second job. Brander said Tesla wouldn't interview her for two jobs though she had twice been a contract employee.”

A state legislative trip to a foreign country is highly unusual...
I have cancelled a planned legislative trip to Israel. My hope had been to learn and ask tough questions of the Israeli government actions, particularly related to humanitarian aide in Gaza. I am grateful to the constituents who helped me see the harm of this approach. 1/5

Great news! SB 79 — which would speed up housing construction in transit corridors — just passed both houses of the CA legislature. We need more housing in CA — for workers, for seniors, for students, for families. Let's build it!

NEW: Thanks to an agreement with California, the City of Artesia is now required to quickly build 1,000+ homes for moderate and low-income Californians on an expedited timeline. Affordable housing is something leaders at all levels of government must pitch in toward.

SB 79 has passed Senate concurrence, and is now on to the governor's desk to sign! I have to give a shoutout to Senators @aishabbwahab and @SenMariaEDurazo, who I have previously been critical of. If not for their 'yes' votes, SB 79 would not have passed.

Wild Hebrew-only story in @ynetnews: On Oct 8, 2023, Israeli soldiers clearing a kibbutz heard a little girl speaking Hebrew from inside a safe room, then shot through the door thinking it was a hostage situation, killing the father. His wife was told he died protecting them from Hamas militants; 562 days later, she learned it was the Israeli military.
