Faster AI adoption isn't leading to higher unemployment, per @RenMacLLC . "If AI were costing jobs, the states where adoption rose most since November should be seeing jobless rates climb. They aren't. Across 46 states and DC, the correlation between the rise in AI use and the change in unemployment is -0.10, essentially nothing. For now, there's no sign that AI is pushing up unemployment where it's spreading fastest."

Yes, corporate credit spreads have widened a bit, but implied recession risk from the excess bond premium is under 10 percent. Recall that excess bond premium is the portion of corporate credit spreads that cannot be explained by expected default risk.

Pretty clear message out the US Manufacturing PMI. Employment hit its highest level since 2012 while output prices advanced to another high in October. For factories at least, this looks like an inflationary boom.

Good piece. Going into October, markets might be playing the Fed more than they are playing the ball. If the Fed does not hike in October, Warsh will have quite a bit of explaining to do.

Solid industrial activity. Intermodal railcar loadings remain fairly buoyant through October. Intermodal rail traffic up roughly 13% against last year through the week ending October 17th. This series has a solid contemporaneous correlation with the ISM Manufacturing PMI.
