Pleased to meet with Congressman George Latimer (@RepGLatimer) in New York, who has been a strong and important voice for Kosova, particularly in support of its NATO accession.
We discussed a range of topics, including Kosova’s economic growth, its achievements in strengthening safety and security, and its growing recognition and engagement with international institutions. We also discussed the enduring partnership between Kosova and the United States, including our cooperation in defense and development.
Our conversation also focused on regional security, including concerns about the Russian support for destabilizing activities.
The United States is a cherished ally of Kosova, and we are deeply grateful for the strong bonds of friendship and bipartisan support we enjoy across both chambers of the U.S. Congress.

The SBA Artificial Intelligence Utilization Act of 2026 just passed in @HouseSmallBiz. I introduced this legislation alongside @RepGLatimer, which would require the Small Business Administration to submit an annual report on the agency’s use of AI and to help Congress better understand AI implementation within our government agencies.

Bronx programs serve nearly 43% of New York State's TRIO Talent Search and EOC students. The Trump Administration's FY26 grant applications would cut both programs by two-thirds and shift TRIO away from college access.
My Bronx colleagues and I are fighting Secretary McMahon for the Bronx students who depend on them.

This Earth Day, clean energy and climate are under attack. The Trump administration has been rolling back climate progress, treating us as expendable and driving up costs for American families. That's why we're fighting for a clean energy future and a healthy climate.

Proud to introduce the Poll Worker Tax Cut Act with @RepGLatimer.
Poll workers are essential to free & fair elections. They shouldn’t be penalized for stepping up to serve. This bill ensures their earnings aren’t taxed as income. Let’s support those who support our democracy.

After 3 years of obstruction from Republican leadership, Congress is finally honoring the bravery of the thousands of officers who responded to the violent insurrectionists that stormed our nation’s Capitol.
This is more than a plaque – it is a solemn reminder of the heroism hundreds of officers from across Washington showed on January 6th when Donald Trump and his followers attempted to upend our democracy.
House Democrats will continue to fight for those officers who had the courage to defend the Capitol, the Constitution, and the peaceful transfer of power when it mattered most.

This week, @RepGLatimer and I led a coalition of Bronx elected officials in urging @SecRubio and @StateDept to deliver immediate emergency aid to Jamaica following the catastrophic destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa.
The Bronx is home to one of the largest Jamaican diasporas in the U.S. Our communities have deep ties to Jamaica, and many are anxiously awaiting word from their loved ones amidst the horrible storm.
We must stand with our neighbors in their time of greatest need.

Last Friday, our Bronx community of clergy, chaplains, elected officials, faith leaders, community residents and leaders, stood in solidarity and love with the NYPD at the 47th Precinct for a Memorial Service in recognition of our fallen Hero, First Grade Detective Didarul Islam.
Four innocent New Yorkers were gunned down in a Midtown office building last week in an act of violence that has shattered our hearts and devastated families and the NYPD.
Together, in prayers, song and worship, we paid tribute to Detective Islam, a dedicated police officer in the Bronx, a devoted husband, loving father and trusted friend.
We will never forget his sacrifice and service to our Borough and City. Thank You to everyone who came out and showered the family and loved ones with prayers and words of encouragement. 🙏

SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler claims small businesses like tariffs: "What I'm hearing from small businesses is they want that level playing field. They know this is a short-term situation that is gonna be replaced by a much brighter long term."
