ALT Voting by Mail Ballot, Do's and Don'ts Do: Return your voted ballot by the deadline. Voted mail ballots must be received by your county board of elections by 8 p.m. November 8. Do: Seal your ballot inside both envelopes. Only ballots delivered in BOTH envelopes (the inner secrecy envelope marked “Official Election Ballot” sealed inside the outer return envelope) by the deadline are counted. Do: Complete the pre-addressed outer return envelope. Sign and date the Voter’s Declaration on the back of the outer return envelope. Don't: Wait to return your voted ballot. Return your ballot as soon as possible. Remember if mailing in, it must be received by 8pm Nov 8. Postmarks do not count. You can also hand deliver your ballot to your county election office. Don't: Deliver someone else’s ballot unless you are a designated agent. Under Pennsylvania law, voters may only return their own ballots. The only exceptions to this are for voters with a disability who have designated someone.
