Dakota Valley Junior Tyler Kloucek is this week’s South Dakota Riddell Player of the Week for 11-Man Football.
“Tyler has been the heartbeat of our football program all year long. He plays with relentless effort and a spirit that is tough to match. His attitude and effort every day at practice is infectious and bleeds into everyone around him, coaches included. He pushes our younger players and coaches them up during individual periods without his coaches asking him to do so.
Tyler also excels in the classroom and is a role model for our Purple Panthers youth football program. I think there are few players in the state that have excelled on the field at the level that Tyler has in all 3 phases of the game.”
Tylers efforts last week led to 6 Rec. 104 yds. 1 TD / 4 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Int. , 1 PR for 33 yds.” -Shane Ladage Dakota Valley HC
Honorable Mentions: Zhoel Irion (Sturgis Brown), Aiden Schrempp (Canton), Braylon Erickson (Sioux Falls Jefferson)

Parkston Senior Mason Jervik is this week’s South Dakota Riddell Player of the Week for 9-Man Football
“Mason is a captain of the team, and his ability to build a rapport with teammates and the youth is what has developed him from a lead by example to a guy that can lead the locker room. It’s rare to have an extremely talented student-athlete that comprehends that he represents more than himself and fully embodies the culture of team above self. His maturity, humility, leadership, and knowledge of the game helps everyone on the team; even if he’s not in the game, he’s positive and encouraging while coaching up his younger teammates.
He has dealt and played through injuries; he realizes that his impact reaches far outside of the team/locker room. He is an excellent role model within our community. He’s heavily involved in multi-extracurricular activities outside of athletics, such as youth church group, being a teacher assistant in the Kindergarten/Elementary grade levels and volunteered to help coach a 5th-6thgrade youth football team for the past two seasons (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday). He has made a lasting impact on those youth football players knowing that they get to watch their coach/role model play under the lights.
It’s awesome to see the positive impact and excitement the youth have when he walks down the hallway!
In the first half, he rushed 9 times for 141 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had 2 solo and 2 assisted tackles with 1 pass break up: while adding a punt return for 26 yards.” -Matt Grave Parkston HC
Honorable Mentions: Dalton Grimes (Kadoka Area), Major Aarstad (Bon Homme), Rowen Becker (Sioux Falls Lutheran)

Sioux Falls Lincoln Senior Brody Schafer is this week’s South Dakota Riddell Player of the Week for 11-Man Football.
“Brody continues to be one of our top performers weeks after week, and his impact goes well beyond his individual performance. In last week’s top five matchup, he led the Patriots to a 34–25 upset victory over Brandon Valley. Against a quality opponent, his ability and leadership helped our team earn a significant win.
Brody’s value to Sioux Falls Lincoln cannot be measured by statistics alone. He sets an example for his teammates through his consistency, character, and leadership. His presence makes our team better, and he represents our program in a way that makes our coaches, school, and community proud.
Just as impressive is the character Brody demonstrates away from football. His ability on the field is matched by the person he is in the classroom and hallways of Lincoln High School. Through his involvement in Student Council and the Lincoln Leaders Council, he embraces opportunities to contribute to our school beyond athletics. Brody reflects the qualities we hope to develop in every student-athlete: a strong competitor, a dependable teammate, and a young person of character.
Brody’s efforts led to 15-24 for 257 yards passing, 17 YPC, and passing 4 TDs; along with 15 rushes for 34 yards and 1 rushing TD.” -Jared Fredenburg Sioux Falls Lincoln HC

Bennett County Senior Rush O’Neill is this week’s South Dakota Riddell Player of the Week for 9-Man Football.
“Rush had an outstanding week in a tight win. He excelled on both sides of the ball and had a career night receiving. When a big play was needed Rush could be counted on to be in the right position. All season Rush has been a quiet leader on and off the field.
Rush leads by example on and off the field every day. He moved positions on defense to start his senior year based on the team's needs and has thrived. He puts his team ahead of himself and is the loudest supporter of his teammates' success.
In a tough game this week he led the team with 6 receptions for 228 yards, 39.9 YPC, 3 TDs, and 6 total tackles.” -Brady Hicks Bennett County HC

Bob Chesney on the everyday work of building a program’s culture.
“If I just sit at my desk and talk to no one and go on the field and stand in the corner and do nothing, it's really hard to identify if I'm building that culture and that environment or not.”
A great speech on Saturday can help your team, but your team’s identity takes shape in how you show up Monday through Friday.
Your players learn what matters through their daily experience of being coached by you.
Give them a message worth hearing AND give them evidence of it throughout the week.

Florence/Henry Senior Dawson Hlavacek is this week’s South Dakota Riddell Player of the Week for 9-Man Football
“Dawson is a 2-year captain and the positive energy that our team constantly feeds off. Dawson plays wherever we need him to, whether that be LB, DB, DE; he is the guy willing to do whatever it takes to win. He spent the summer in the weight room and was one of the first to offer rides to underclassmen if they needed. Dawson has played since week 5 with a hand injury and played through the injury before it was diagnosed for the entire game. The thing that stands out for me above all else for Dawson is his relentless drive. He is 100mph everywhere he goes, and with everything he does.
Dawsons efforts last week led to 161 yards rushing on 18 Att. 3 TD; 57 yards on 3 receptions and 1TD; 2 INT + 2PBU and 1 solo tackle on defense.” -Nate Russell Florence/Henry HC
Honorable Mentions: Jonathan Leonardi (Hamlin), Henry Anderson (Baltic), Charlie Eide (Centerville)

Sioux Falls Jefferson Senior Cason Mediger is this week’s South Dakota Riddell Player of the Week for 11-Man Football.
Cason has been exceptional all season. He saves his best performances for our biggest games. He was almost flawless Friday night against one of our rivals. Cason is a member of our leadership council. He is part of the Teacher Pathway Program and works with kids at Heyward Elementary. He also has volunteered his time at various elementary schools in SF. Cason is also a multi-sport athlete (basketball and baseball). He is completely unselfish and has set the bar very high from a play and leadership standpoint for the future QBs of Jefferson High School.
Cason’s efforts last week led to 16/20 passing, 240 yds, 15 YPC, and 3 TD's.” -Eric Struck, Sioux Falls Jefferson HC
