Democratic State Representative Nabeela Syed unseated appointed Republican State Senator Darby Hills in #SD26 on Tuesday and it wasn't even close. Hills, who framed this election as "good vs evil," lost this Harris+9 district by 15 points to the rising Democratic star Syed.

Another interesting result of the Chicago School Board races -- last I checked, women lead in 15/20 districts; of the 5 in which a man leads, 3 were uncontested. Reminded me of a paper that found women tend to over-perform men in school board races: gspp.berkeley.edu/archived/f…

As sure a sign as any of what lessons the White House is learning from the midterms
BREAKING: Trump just announced that chief of staff Susie Wiles is leaving her post and will be replaced by Stephen Miller.

An under-discussed result of the Chicago School Board election was a high degree of 'ticket-splitting', where districts backed a CTU-endorsee for the Board, while backing CTU-opposed Jessica @biggs4chicago for Board President. 6 (maybe 7?) districts saw this (of 20!) #twill

Votes still being counted, but my signature-based analysis for the Chicago School Board races seems pretty close-in. Expect some write-ups once I've spent the necessary time internalizing wins in SC+TX...

Annie Andrews beating Darline Graham is a seismic shock akin to Mark Kirk beating Alexi Giannoulias for Obama’s Senate seat in 2010, wow! (NYT has called it for Andrews.)

What Haley did today was unconscionable, beyond the pale. She has turned her back on everything we stood for after we were elected to Congress together — reproductive rights, civil and human rights, clean water-air-land energy, economic justice. 4/5

with friends like these!
Haley Stevens told me she discussed her Rogers endorsement with her mom. “I called her and said, "Mom, I'm going to do this." She goes, "Well, I voted for him too."

Haley Stevens has chosen to dangerously betray Michigan families’ healthcare, freedoms and future with her horrific endorsement of Mike Rogers. @AbdulElSayed must win — because Michigan and our country deserve better. -NP

The 47th Ward has 66 block party permits for Halloween today. That’s an alderman who takes family fun and safety seriously! 👏 @AldMattMartin michaelmclean.me/chicago-hal…

This is a great read. There are absolutely improvements that we need to make to our crisis response efforts, but further investing in them is a must. I'm proud to be endorsed by @19thTogether- leading proponents of the CARE team and other data backed public safety improvements.
By just investing a fraction of Chicago’s $2 billion police budget into improving its civilian emergency response program, Chicago will not only prevent unnecessary incarceration but save both lives and money. citythatworks.substack.com/p…

With municipal petitions all submitted, I'll be looking at some of the mayoral candidates' submissions, geographic distributions, and more. A lot of signatures to analyze, but here's a teaser courtesy of mayoral hopeful(?) John Kitover. sub to ridgeknapp.substack.com for more!

On the opposite side of this, contested races (aside from the mayoral) appear to be more heavily on the South & West side this year. #twill At least until petition challenges...

HUGE deal for post-election analysis. Given the loss of AP Votecast, this is an incredible thing to have. Kudos Team @Nate_Cohn! From the methods explainer, my expectation is that this data will be ~"up there" in quality w/ @yghitza/@Catalist_US, but available on Election Night.
