Okay nobody actually believes these robots actually work as claimed, do they?
Also, any machine will defend you if you use it right. You can huck a toaster at an attacker.

BREAKING: Debris believed to be from a Chinese rocket has been discovered in a farmer’s cornfield in Minnesota, after the spacecraft’s upper stage reentered Earth’s atmosphere over the United States.
The massive metallic object, approximately 11 feet (3.4 meters) wide, was discovered October 14, prompting an investigation by state and federal authorities.
According to Ars Technica, the evidence points to a Zhuque-2E rocket launched by Chinese company LandSpace on September 15, carrying 10 satellites for China’s Qianfan broadband constellation, a planned rival to SpaceX’s Starlink.
After deploying its satellites, the rocket’s upper stage performed a deorbit maneuver, with its trajectory and diameter closely matching the debris found in Minnesota.
Rocket stages are typically directed toward unpopulated ocean areas during controlled disposal, raising questions about whether this reentry went as planned.
No injuries were reported, and the object’s origin has not yet been officially confirmed.

The kid has his own energy drink line, too.
What makes me laugh is every single one of these dudes looks like he’s name Travis or Trevor, has a can of Copenhagen in his pocket, and drives a jacked-up Chevy Silverado.
🤡 Adam Kadyrov assembles his own “special forces” unit from the children of Chechen officials
Ramzan Kadyrov’s son has created “Team K-13” — a new security “unit” where the main recruitment requirement appears to be having the right parents.
According to an investigation by Verstka, more than half of the 18 armed members pictured alongside Kadyrov are relatives of the Kadyrov family or children of high-ranking Chechen officials and security officers.
The elite squad includes the son of Chechnya’s prime minister, nephews of influential officials, and relatives of Kadyrov and his wife. There was even room for a former dancer from the Nokhcho ensemble who later became a bodyguard.
The creators of K-13 solemnly promise to carry out any assignment, anytime, anywhere.
What exactly this family-run special forces unit does, however, remains a mystery. Journalists found no information about any actual operations or achievements.
So far, the only confirmed special operation is posing for a photoshoot with assault rifles.

Yeah, the SUPER-SHORTY is back! We've been trying to get the latest version produced for over a year and now it's finally happening. During that year, a LOT has happened on the legal front. I LOVE being able to transfer (formerly) NFA firearms on a 4473. But watch my video and learn why it may be in your best interest to transfer them the old-fashioned way...

The pattern set by the 9/11 hijackers should have put us on our guard against infiltration. Unfortunately, the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR were already in place (look up the Explanatory Memorandum) to divert any attention from this infiltration.
The West keeps letting in people who spent years calling for the opposite of everything Western societies claim to stand for. This Syrian journalist was on video using Ibn Taymiyyah’s fatwas to justify hostility toward Alawites and backing HTS. Now she’s in France without the hijab and getting treated like just another asylum case. That’s not a sudden change of heart. It’s the same pattern of governments refusing to look at what these people actually said and supported, then acting shocked when the ideology shows up inside their own countries.

I asked these characters what they thought about POV characters with non-baseline mental states.
Ashok told me to stop bothering him or he'd kill me. Well, he detailed exactly how he'd do it in very autistic specificity, and it was very intimidating, but that was the gist.
Owen said the most normal person he works with is a nerd who loves minis and cosplay so he really didn't know what I was talking about.
Faye got REALLY interested in the topic for about five minutes and then went off to practice some murdering.
Sullivan thought it was funny. He almost cracked a smile.
Oz said I needed to define normal, because everything he'd seen and everyone he'd met since leaving home was insane. Also most of the stuff before then, too.
Trax asked how flavorful they are.
Mike pointed out that 'normal' really just means ignoring reality. Normal is comfortable. Abnormal means you have something interesting to talk about, even if no one else understands it. It was actually a really interesting conversation, but it turns out he was just killing time while waiting for a mark so I'm actually not sure if he was really thinking about it or just using me to look like he wasn't casing the place.
Lorenzo could not be reached for comment, and it is a complete coincidence that I need to go check on my family's safety now.

What's going on this week at Baen Books? With no author appearances, we're taking the opportunity to catch our breath and start prepping for our next short story contest! That's right - grab your pen, pencil, or laptop and get ready to write! The Jim Baen Memorial Short Story Award begins accepting submissions on Thursday, 15 October!
Since its early days, science fiction has played a unique role in human civilization. It removes the limits of what "is" and shows us a boundless vista of what "might be." Its fearless heroes, spectacular technologies and wondrous futures have inspired many people to make science, technology and space flight a real part of their lives and in doing so, have often transformed these fictions into reality. The National Space Society and Baen Books applaud the role that science fiction plays in advancing real science and have teamed up to sponsor this short fiction contest in memory of Jim Baen.
Contest opens for submissions on October 1, 2025 at 12:01am EDT. (Entries sent before that date will be deleted unread.)
Deadline - 12:01am, U.S. Pacific Time, February 1, 2026.
The ten finalists will be announced no later than March 8, 2026.

I don’t have a problem with graphic novels or anything, but producing them is rather more involved and is generally not a one-person endeavor.
Also…this might strike some of you as harsh, if you refer to novels as “chapter books” you shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

Something I learned recently: @Ruger_Firearms isn’t producing revolvers right now. Their wheelgun lines are presently shut down.
I don’t think it’s permanent. I hope not! If Ruger tries to reinvent itself as a Glock and AR clone factory they’re going to fail. They’re not going to beat Palmetto State Armory at that.
Also, I think the Redhawk, GP100, and SP101 are some of the most durable and reliable revolvers ever made. They’re already trying to reduce production costs by eliminating things like user-changeable front sight. It would be a damned shame if they went away.
(Also I will be inconsolable.)
From what I understand, a lot of gun companies are in a slump. Guns are durable goods and the sales boom of 2020-21 means a lot of people aren’t buying more guns.
We will see how it goes.
There’s been a revolver renaissance in the last few years- more companies are making revolvers now than there were 25 years ago, and they’ve done some interesting and innovative things. Colt came back, Taurus seems to have finally gotten their act together (unlike @jarvis_best), S&W resurrected an improved K-Frame, Korth and Manurhin are being imported, and Kimber and Diamondback are making revolvers now.
It would be areal shame if Ruger, of all companies, exited the revolver market after all that.

This situation with the ATF declaring they’re not going to enforce certain parts of the NFA would have been unimaginable a few years ago. Remember it wouldn’t have happened without years of legal action by organizations like @GunOwners and @gunrights.
I don’t know if it will last- the law hasn’t changed and, depending on the ultimate outcome of the lawsuit that precipitated this, it might not.
But here’s the thing- millions of people will go buy NFA items without a tax stamp. A future administration that wants to re-criminalize those things will have the added political pressure of turning millions of people into felons.
I’m not saying they won’t do it, but it makes it harder.
As much as certain elements have been preaching doom, gun rights advocates have spent the last 30 years reclaiming lost ground.
Never give up! Never surrender!
