This holiday season, I'm especially grateful to the 120,000 Providence caregivers who serve our patients and communities with compassion and love every day. I send my deepest appreciation this season, as we celebrate Christmas and other holidays.
In his book, Hit Refresh, @satyanadella repeatedly talks about how the best #innovation is fueled by empathy. I agree. Human connection goes to the very heart of what health care is all about.
Veterans Day is an opportunity to reflect on the service, bravery and sacrifices of our armed forces. I'm sure there are many Providence caregivers who are #veterans or active reservists. Here's one story that inspired me. provhealth.org/6015dqjzF
We're all in on our pledge to become carbon negative. Very proud of the many @Providence caregivers who are part of this essential work, now recognized by @HHSgov at #COP27 - the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference. provhealth.org/6010dqTTm
Nearly 1/3 of food produced around the world ends up as waste.
Providence Alaska began composting food scraps last month and already collected 1,600 lbs! Reducing waste will help us reach our #carbonnegative goal in 2030. @ProvAK

This short but inspirational reflection represents so well the work we do at Providence. We respond to needs by serving and giving in a spirit of love. With our Mission as our central anchor point, we are shaping the future of health care.
A great example of the value of scale. Providence St. Mary in Walla Walla, Wash. supported a pilot program that is gaining local support. The hospital invested in the health of a region with a grant for a community paramedic program. Encouraging! ms.spr.ly/6016ja6eu
Working together is a calling shared by everyone at the Providence family of organizations - to join with others of goodwill in service to others. We have wonderful role models in our sisters!

We like to find ways to support local partners working for safe housing, such as the Orange County Housing Advocacy Collaborative. They pooled resources to make a difference for people like Idalia. Take a listen: provhealth.org/6019jigZX

Caregivers needed good quality scrubs delivered on time. The Refugee Artisan Initiative wanted work for artisan women who sew and are paid a living wage. It was a match! This is a great story.

Our thanks to @POTUS for signing the #InflationReductionAct, which makes important investments in #climate action & renewable energy, lowers medication costs and extends ACA insurance subsidies. The measure will directly support the health and well-being of those we serve.
"What matters to you?" This simple but powerful concept has changed medicine during the past decade, and some credit goes to @maureenbis. When providers ask patients this question, the focus becomes what matters most.
